According to the flier, Shank is believed to have run off the road in a thick fog. Eyewitnesses reported that Shank may have been bloodied in the car accident, and she began wandering house to house without shoes or a coat. Additional testimony said she may have attempted to contact the police, but disappeared before any response. According to eyewitness reports, she was last seen with a green Army-style coat that she had been given.

Shank stands 5 feet, 1 inch and was estimated to weigh 110 pounds at the time of her disappearance. She is Caucasian and fair-complected, with blue eyes and brown hair. Additionally, Shank has multiple tattoos that could possibly be used to identify her including “Kayden” on her right chest, “Zac” inside her left wrist, “Owen Conner” in large print on her right leg, a large butterfly/tribal tattoo on the small of her back, orange initials inside her right wrist and a candy skull on her right thigh. Both of her ears are gauged.
Shank has left four children hoping for her safe return.

''Bradley Balk was the sheriff at the time of Shank's disappearance. He said she was seen earlier that day with a white man in his early to mid 20s, around 5'6" to 5'8" tall with short blonde hair and mutton chop style sideburns.''

'In the call you can hear a woman, presumably Shank, speaking with the 911 operator. She tries to explain where she is at before she hands the phone to a man nearby. The man explains to the 911 operator that the woman just showed up at his door with no shoes or coat, and said that her boyfriend had "wrecked the car" and ran off.'

Details of Disappearance

Shank was last seen in the 33000 block of Fawn River Road in Sturgis, Michigan on November 30, 2018. She ran her boyfriend's car off the road in a thick fog, and was walking from house to house in the area, apparently very confused, asking for help. She tried to call the police, but cell phone was reception was bad and her calls couldn't go through.

A man called 911 for her, saying Shank had come to his door and told him her boyfriend had crashed their car and taken off running, and that she needed help. Her feet and arms were bleeding, and she had no coat or shoes; he gave her an Army-green coat to wear.

The 911 dispatchers tried to get more information, but the man said Shank didn't want to talk and had gone back outside. When police responded to the scene, Shank was gone. They found her vehicle and it had minor damage.

Earlier on the day of her disappearance, Shank was accompanied by a man in his early to mid-twenties. He is described as 5'6 to 5'8 tall, with short blond hair and mutton-chop sideburns. It's unclear whether this man had any involvement in his case, but a sketch of him is posted with this case summary.

Shank has never been heard from again. She left behind four children. Her case remains unsolved.

CENTREVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — The family of a woman who vanished near Sturgis six years ago is calling on the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office to hand the case over to Michigan State Police, hoping that the larger agency could make strides in finding Brittany Shank.

“I’m feeling a lot of pain and sorrow,” Shank’s father Greg Wallace told News 8 in his first interview on an unassuming fall afternoon outside the Centreville courthouse. “Just not knowing where she’s at or what happened.”
