Good points y'all.
And hey, even if she wasn't a smoker, she could've taken walk breaks. Many girls in my building get up every couple hours and do a lap or two around the building just to get active and burn a few extra calories.
We know from SM that DS liked being active so I don't think it's far fetched to think she possibly took walking breaks throughout her day. I understand that in December it wasn't extremely cold there on the day of her disappearance. ( I mean For them it wasn't extremely cold. For me, it would be ! Lol but they are used to a different climate then some of us)

That's why early on I made the comment that she may have parked closer to the back of the lot to get some added exercise before getting in her car. She also did not have the inner lining in her coat that day as was described, when they mentioned the coat she was wearing. The weather was still pretty warm at that time. Being at the back of the lot would have made it a lot less noticeable if someone got in the car with her. I wonder how much of that lot was examined in a search, if there was one done.

The pot thing is a non-issue I think. Her keychain was shown because it was a unique way to identify her keys. I don't think (IMO) that somehow pot put her in a bad situation. Her parents initially said they thought Danielle's good nature may have put her in a bad situation. I can't reference other things but there have been rumblings that is exactly how Dani got into a bad situation. It just drives me crazy that people want to say that maybe Dani went to FG's for pot and then something happened or maybe they were having an affair and something happened... It makes me think that people don't realize there are people in the world that would be cruel and commit a crime and there doesn't have to be a reason. There are people among us that do terrible things. I guess I just don't like when I hear that somehow Dani did something that may have put her in a bad situation like pot or an affair. Maybe she was just being nice and trusted a guy she saw around work that claimed he needed a ride home due to his car "not starting". (JMO of course)

I don't think anyone is suggesting that DS's disappearance is somehow her fault. I do think, however, it wise to keep an open mind about any and all possibilities and vet them. We just do not know for certain what transpired after she left work.

Imo all theories have to stay on the table until more information is released and I don't think we can discourage people from following their paths regardless of our own theories...jmo

Agree, especially when we consider statistics against the facts we do know. The majority of crimes against women are committed by someone known to the victim and most commonly due to heat of the moment argument, etc. While totally random, horrific crime does occur and may have occurred in this case, it is very rare. No matter the reason, though, Dani is not to blame and I haven't seen anyone insinuate such. JMO.

Agreed ( for some reason I can't "like" posts right now?? I'm on my phone so maybe it's just me?)

There's nothing Danielle could've done to deserve this and it's absolutely not her fault, no matter what she did or didn't do!
I don't think anyone here meant that Danielle has done something to cause her disappearance. I do think that exploring all plausible theories is a good idea. Both of those theories are plausible and don't seem very far fetched. I might not personally agree with all of them but my opinion is no better then anyone elses. I'm all for looking into plausible theories.

Speculating: if DS had gone to someone's house for whatever reason, and someone other than DS drove her car back to her apartment, why take the car keys? The perp could just as easily locked the keys in the car and been done with it. It didn't buy the perp any more time to take the car keys with them. Unless, of course, she had other keys of interest on her keychain. Maybe keys to MetLife?

Someone who may have worked as a security guard may have known MetLife had substandard outdoor security cameras but I don't think they'd be so stupid as to think taking keys to MetLife with the intent to gain entry would go unnoticed.
I'd be willing to bet that MetLife would know if their building was accessed on the inside.
Plus that would be so risky for someone who just abducted a girl. What would our perp want with MetLife keys other then to gain entry to MetLife?

Because taking the keys and phone bought them time. The assumption being Dani put both in her pocket voluntarily and either left or was taken from I.GA.
The keys themselves meant nothing...I wouldn't bother down that rabbit hole

I agree
But taking the keys, they made it look like DS could've left on her own accord like for example that a friend maybe picked her up. IMO

I agree. Really smart actually.

My speculation has always been that whoever drove her car back took the keys out of habit.

If I drive my husbands car, 9 out of 10 times he has to go find his keys in my purse. Habit.

I'm thinking adrenaline pumping wouldn't allow the brain to function by habit.

Locking the car (in my Lexus I can't lock my keys in the car...not sure if it's brand specific or if most cars are this way) and taking keys and phone sets up a voluntary situation or a different crime scene

Yes, I see. But why not take her purse?

Also, was the Jeep a keyless entry/
ignition?

I have a fob that never comes outside of my purse. I always have my purse with me. I have a button on the door of my car that I press once to open it or press twice to open all the doors. (as long as the fob is nearby.) Also, when out and about, my phone rarely leaves my purse. If I were to lose my phone, I'd be toast as I use it for everything.

But I am unfamiliar with young female millenials. Someone stated earlier that they figured when and if DS entered the house on Berkley, she probably put her keys and phone in her coat pocket and left her purse in the car. Is that normally what a young woman does these days? I truly have no clue.

Not sure where I'm going with this but I'm trying to get a feel for DS and her usual behavior and habits and if this perp was smart or if he was a novice in a hurry and scared he'd be caught and was careless.

Just one more question for this evening and I know I'm going to catch heck but you don't learn anything if you don't ask and I know it's been asked but I'm not satisfied with the answer.

Why did she have a burner phone. BTW: I asked my millennial son (who did say he knows of a lot of women who don't carry purses.) The burner phone? His thoughts were either drugs, cheating or she didn't want someone at work to know her number.

I don't think it's 1 or2 but 3 maybe? Are they cheaper?
Again, stumped and clueless and probably too darn old to understand the reasons.

I'm absolutely not a millennial, however I do leave my bag in the car daily and run out with just phone keys and if necessary cc or money. I rarely bring my purse on quick errands, gym etc.

If her plan was to just run into her apt to pack a bag, feed the cat and leave then I completely see leaving that in the car imo.

The key was discussed at length in thread 1.

The burner phone was discussed at length in first threads. It's common for younger crowd to have a burner to save on contract costs through providers. My elderly mom has one as does my brother and he's soooo straightlaced!

I don't carry a purse . Many younger girls if they are going out will keep DL, credit card and maybe cash in phone case.

Can't quote for some reason but it wasn't a "burner phone" in the literal sense, it was a tongue-in-cheek description of the fact that she had a prepaid phone. It wasn't like she used one for a month and then got a new one. Maybe it's a Michigan thing but there are a lot of prepaid phone people, prepaid phone's often have better signals in some of the rural parts for whatever reason.
Also, I always just thought that her phone and keys being missing meant they were probably in her coat pocket. Its interesting to see other people's theories on that.

I agree with you ...all points.

Razz I think it would help you to read they the first few threads as all of your questions were discussed in depth.

Imo I think they were in her coat too...however, if it really wasn't her in the car parking it then he had her keys at a minimum...jmo
