It bothers me that the press and/or police keep referring to the statutory rapist(s) as her boyfriends. She was 15!

"Aggravated" is apparently due to the age difference.

(c) Aggravated statutory rape is the unlawful sexual penetration of a victim by the defendant, or of the defendant by the victim when the victim is at least thirteen (13) but less than eighteen (18) years of age and the defendant is at least ten (10) years older than the victim.

Unfortunately, these seem to only be Class D (Aggravated statutory rape) and Class E felonies in TN, meaning the punishment is not that severe. Fines and maybe a few years in jail. I hope there's some way they can find some mitigating factors or something to make punishment stricter, to keep this 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 away from others.

Is he a repeat offender? Part of a gang? In some states, use of a gun can earn higher penalties.

If he would plead guilty to the homicide, they will probably drop the rape charge, knowing our DA. They prefer no trial most of the time.
