Found Deceased CA - Danielle Bertolini Brooks, 23, Fortuna, 29 Jan 2014

this is reminding me of the jessalyn dean, but I think it was ANOTHER woman missing in this area w ties to marijuana.

I guess being tied to marijuana could put you at a risk, though.

You may be thinking of Sheila Franks who disappeared around the same time as Danielle and was last seen by the same man. Yes, being tied to marijuana in this area certainly does put people at risk!

I just ran across a couple of older articles from last spring that are relevant. The first contains more information about finding Danielle's skull. Also, Danielle and Shiela's cases are now linked in a homicide investigation.

Bertolini and Sheila Franks were reported missing within a week of each other in February 2014 and despite not knowing one another were each last seen in Fortuna with the same man, Dick said. These two missing persons cases are now being treated as ongoing homicide investigations, according to Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Wayne Hanson.
“We’re treating it like a homicide because of suspicious circumstances of her disappearance,” he said. “We believe they’re linked to one another,” Hanson said.

Fortuna Police have identified a POI in both cases.

According to witnesses close to the women, the person of interest is someone who was associated with both of them. The department will not release the name of the person or further information, but say they are actively investigating this case and are still looking for further leads.

Thank you. I was just coming to post this. :)

Five missing women in Humboldt County were featured, dating back to the early 90's, including Sheila Franks who disappeared a week before Danielle. This is the first time the POI has been publicly named AFAIK. There is not enough evidence to name him as the primary suspect...yet.

Danielle, 23, had been given a ride in Fortuna by a man named Jim Jones, who told police he had dropped her off near her house. But now cops had something to go on, because they could link Jim Jones to the disappearance of another woman, 37-year-old Sheila Franks just a week earlier.
"James Jones was involved with Sheila and was the last person to see Danielle," said Fortuna Police Officer Brian Taylor.

Two videos at the link.

Bumping for Danielle. Here's hoping for an arrest in 2017. :heartbeat:
