I haven't seen a thread yet on this UID, who was found in the Detroit River (near GM Renaissance Center) on June 13: https://identifyus.org/en/cases/13944

The shoes stand out to me because Hermes is such an expensive brand--the men's loafers on their site right now run about $900+. The full-size pic (https://identifyus.org/en/medias/full/30677) shows markings on the right shoe tongue that might help narrow down when this shoe was manufactured.

I believe that Hermes takes the customer's personal details with every purchase. Surely LE have contacted Hermes to try and get this information, given that the serial number on the shoe is probably linked to the customer purchase details in the Hermes computer system.

That said, Hermes stuff does sometimes end up in consignment stores, ebay and the like, so the UID could have obtained the shoes second-hand.

Fakes are also common.....

The Diesel jeans are also expensive. High end taste for sure. Seems like the kind of guy people would notice if they were missing.

This is a long-shot, but I'm wondering if this unidentified body could perhaps be missing person James Michael "Mike" Kimsey (has a WS active thread). Mike went missing from Louisville, KY 05/29/2015. Mike is an airline pilot and has financial means, lives in an affluent neighborhood. He has the grayish hair..... But it is unknown IF he left in shoes (doesn't rule it in or out). It would be a good idea for it to be looked into, a lot of people on the board feel that he very well may have met with foul play and possibly self inflicted. Detroit, MI is 5 hours from Louisville, KY, and this body was found two weeks later in the river showing weeks of decomp.....

IIRC a body swells after death (and more so if drowning), but I find it odd that the loafers remained on this badly decomposing UID.

*Just one more of the strange things I've learned here at WS

I went through every person on NamUS and there's only like three other people who IMO could match this persons description. I wonder, based on the proximity to this location to the casinos, if this could be a traveler, perhaps a casino visitor, that gambled, lost, and committed suicide in his despair. Does other countries like Canada have databases like NamUS?

"He was very well dressed. He had on a button up white and blue striped Ralph Lauren shirt, Diesel brand jeans, Hermes loafer shoes and a Ferragamo belt,” said Krebs. But Det. Krebs says they later discovered most of those designer items turned out to be counterfeit.

“That tells me that he cared much about his appearance, but maybe he didn’t have the lifestyle or career that would support it,” said Det. Krebs.

Krebs says the man was about 5’7” and 160 pounds, and they think he was anywhere from 30-50 years old. He’d had some high-end dental work done and did not have any tattoos."

He had gray or partially gray hair that was cut short on the sides and longer on top. He had a clean-shaven face.

He was wearing dark wash ‘Diesel Industries’ jeans, white and blue striped button-up shirt, a black leather belt and Dark Wash ‘Diesel Industries’ jeans, white and Hermes brand black leather loafers.

Officers pulled a decomposed body of a man, thought to be between 40 and 70, from the Detroit River on June 13, 2015, WDIV reported.

Investigators believe the man died in either 2014 or 2015 but they could not determine an exact date of death.

They said the man was wearing dark Diesel jeans, a blue and white striped shirt, and black leather loafers.

Cops also released images of a black leather belt as part of the appeal for information.
