Or do we think it was designed by the victim and brought to the artist?

I'm confused...the very first link in the very first part of this thread says the squatter was arrested on an unrelated charge...so was he arrested and then possibly killed or is the info in the first link incorrect?

Most of the papers reported the same thing about the squatter being arrested, but on an unrelated charge.

"Madera says a man who has been living or squatting inside the house where the shed is located was arrested on an unrelated charge.

The case is the latest of several dismemberments over the past few years in and around Detroit"

Tats require maintenance on areas that are in areas exposed to sunlight. Is there a database or registry by state for tattoo artists (the legal ones)? And can those places be peppered with email alerts asking if anyone recognizes?

Sorry, this kind of captured my interest. Its a whole different kind of case than an active missing or trial watch. Its working backwards through bits of info?

I can't tell whether the deceased man had been previously arrested for an unrelated charge, and then died later, or whether there was a second man living in the house and he was arrested on an unrelated charge (presumably so he could be held pending more serious charges).

"A preliminary investigation suggested that the body parts may be from the man who once squatted inside the home, police said."

Killed over a squat? Friends falling out?

Very helpful, thanks.

So what font is that? Anyone versed in tats who could identify or hazard a guess?

The local tat shops here sometimes run a special during the week where you can get a name done for about $25. This type of tat is very popular and cheap here. It's just a basic cursive type of tat. That's what the victim's tat reminds me of. I've seen them more on Blacks than Whites.

While the tattoo is nothing special, the blue isn't faded (blue fades and muddle) nor is it a stick n' poke. But still could be a squatter however not too many end up mutilated. In my wee years as a crust punk I only knew of one mutilation and sadly it's the one case that catapulted my family to gross "fame".

Edited to add so I don't clog this up:

I think the term squatter in the way they are using it is way different then how we use the term. I'm thinking it may be a person who knew the person that owned the property and was able to stay in shed/garage in exchange for whatever (food stamps, house work, or more criminal type behavior). I swear I'm not really shady but I seem to know a lot of terrible crap lol. I have an aunt who lets this guy who is homeless (but a long time friend ... POW) stay in their shed/garage. He doesn't pay anything to stay there, they just don't let him live in their house because he's an alcoholic and smokes cigarettes, my auntie is afraid he'll burn the place down.

So maybe it was a squatter situation like that.

A tattoo like this one would probably run someone 25-50 dollars tops. There's nothing special to it and some artists when doing tribute work *if they aren't friends* charge by characters used and ink color. Specials are frequent in low tier shops or with an apprentice.

*consider that pretty accurate as my old man owns and is an artist at one of the better shops here.

That article is a mess! Talk about rush reporting. A shed in the house?! Uh... what? How does that exactly work? I'm trying to wrap my head around how a shed is inside the house when the entire point of a shed is an outside shelter for yard tools and storage.

I'm thinking it's a squabble and drugs/alcohol were likely involved. MOOO

It sort of struck me as someone's idea of a cursive but not their own, trying to stick with a font or style, an example he saw.

I think it was victim conceived and styled and taken to the artist to be approximated or carbon copied onto his skin.

Normally that's how it is done. Either the artist does this or a person brings it to the artist prior to their appointment and it's fine tuned, printed out and placed on the area with the correct measurements. At least if you get anything done professionally.

is it possible Deisha's not dead at all? But instead the man added the RIP and dates later, when they had a breakup? The fonts/script look different to me.

I went off searching social media of course, for 'breakup/no longer in a relationship/split/Deisha 2009. And of course there is stuff, but no man's name. :(

Oh wow! Well, of course now it's a matter of waiting but you got a lot further than I did - but I was looking for a death. So, *because it's like 3am here* they were together a long while then? I wonder where that puts his age ... if this is their relationship status and if there are kids?
