I've never started a thread in here, so hopefully I did this right.

This happened across the street from my best friends house this weekend.

Doesn't sound like they have much to go on just yet. There is a large Casino about 3 miles from where the body was found, and I-94 is not even a mile away, which is a heavily traveled interstate that runs between Chicago and Detroit.

The victim is believed to be a black female, between the ages of 30 and 40.

She was located north of the Amtrak right of way. It is not believed that the victim was struck by a train as there were no outward signs of trauma.

They have identified her but aren't releasing her info until all family is notified. Also, her death has been ruled a homicide. Here is the link:

Michigan State Police troopers were dispatched to the intersection of US-12 and Hoder Road in New Buffalo Township at 11:24 a.m., after a body was found near the railroad tracks...

Police say it doesn't appear the woman was struck by a train and was likely placed at the scene. Investigators are looking into the possibility that the victim was taken from out of state because the location is just off exit 4 of I-94.

Police are investigating the case as a homicide. Investigators are now working with the Chicago Police Department on this investigation.

Thank you, I saw the updates but hadn't had a chance to come back and post, I hope they are able to find out what happened to her, glad they were able to ID her.
