How far away was the exit where Gordie's cards were found from the group home he left? I haven't been able to find any information on that so far.

Thank you, Gordie's case is one that sticks with me. I have autism myself and can't help but think that if my luck had been bad and I was in a situation similar to his that I probably would have done the same thing and could have ended up meeting an unknown fate as well. I think his cards being found on the side of the highway was an ominous sign that he may have left voluntarily and was hitchhiking, either to Florida or somewhere else, and got a ride from the wrong person.

I recently saw the Unsolved Mysteries segment on Gordie for the first time in years. It is a rough one.

I think there is a small chance that he started a new life somewhere and never made a connection back to his family, but unfortunately it seems most likely he died of exposure and his remains have never been recovered.

Possibly this John Doe? Doe Network: The Doe Network: Case File 973UMIL and NamUs pages: The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs). This UID was found in Chicago on 1 October 2003. It is believed that he died at least one or two years prior to discovery. (Gordie would have been in his late 30's at that time.) The height and age estimates work.

Very little to go on but found two other possibilities: The Doe Network: 2336UMIL and The Doe Network: 1736UMIN.

Gordie has been missing for 29 years today.

I wonder what ever happened to Gordie and why they never found his remains or anything
