KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The man accused of shooting eight people, killing six of them, back in February while working as an Uber driver in the Kalamazoo area has been bound over to stand trial on all charges.

Jason Dalton was found competent to stand trial last month on six counts of open murder, two counts of assault with intent to murder and eight felony weapons charges. After witness and survivor testimony on Friday, during which Dalton had to be removed from the courtroom after an outburst, a judge decided there is probable cause to send Dalton to trial on those charges...

video, Dalton outburst leaves witness in stand on tears. Outburst starts at about 24 minutes into video....I feel so badly for this witness and the trauma she has to go through by testifying must be terrible for her.

My heart aches for her. It must be terrifying. And they should have removed him after the first outburst, which they let go on way too long. And the defense attorney appears to me to be smirking during the first outburst.

Family: Kalamazoo shooting victim ‘back to square one’

The Detroit News 11:57 p.m. EDT June 13, 2016

Abigail Kopf, the teen who survived a mass shooting in Kalamazoo this year, is fighting an infection that complicates her recovery, her family says.

The girl left physical therapy in April, some two months after the Feb. 20 shooting that left six people dead. Tiana Carruthers is the second survivor of the shooting.

Abbie, 14, was struck in the head; doctors inserted a plate in her skull to help her heal. But last week, her family announced on a Facebook page dedicated to her rehabilitation that one of the incisions became infected, requiring surgery.

“The infection is bad enough that the plate will be removed,” a post read Monday. “She will be without a plate 6-12 weeks before it is replaced again.

“We are back to square one.” ...

How sad for Abbie. Such a sweet trouper. I sure hope she can get over this infection and back on track, and keep that sweet personality. Prayers and hopes coming for her and her family.

Kalamazoo — The youngest survivor of an Uber driver’s alleged shooting rampage in Kalamazoo last year will start high school with her classmates this fall.

Abigail Kopf, 15, underwent testing Thursday so educators at Harper Creek Community Schools could figure out where the teen stands academically, WOOD-TV reported.

“I can’t guarantee that she’s going to be doing ninth-grade work. But we’re not going to set her back,” said Vickie Kopf, Abigail’s mother. “She doesn’t deserve that, especially with what happened to her.” ...

Prosecutor “ready to go” to bring murder case to trial

“We’re ready to go, as soon as we hear from the Michigan Supreme Court, we’ll be in front of Judge Lipsey asking him to schedule a trial date as soon as possible.”

http://fox17online.com/2018/02/20/k...or-ready-to-go-to-bring-murder-case-to-trial/

Thanks for the update.

Wish legal proceedings would be faster. When I looked at page 1 i thought this happened today and saw it was 2/21/2016 instead of 2/21/2018. LOL

2 years seems an awful long time to just now be getting to trial. I guess murder trials are more complex than other types of trials.

Prospective jurors reported to court Thursday. Trial testimony was scheduled to start Monday, but assistant prosecutor Scott Brower says it could slip to Tuesday.

The process so far has been closed to reporters.
