this is so sad all the way around .. mabey the father felt the kid would be a predator the rest of his life and couldnt handle that ? i dunno .. i wonder if when ppl have the craving to touch a child innapropriately if they are even able to get help .. mabey that is where the dad was coming from .. still i cannot believe how a father could kill his own son like that predator or not .. that makes him no better at least the son admitted it to his mom and was trying to get help ..so sad

The father's grandparents relay their feelings and thoughts. Apparently, the father was at their home from 3:30am to 8:30am. So, he had time to calm down. Or work himself up. It ALSO states (on the 3rd page), that there is no record of family or local facilities reporting the assault. Local facilities are required to report it. Just an odd piece of information.

This whole thing still sickens me. Hopefully that little boy is at peace now. The man who did this sure doesn't deserve to be called a father. Sperm donor is even too good for him.

I am not defending the father however... Sexual curiosity is small children not a 15 year old and a 3 year old. That is child molestation and makes the deceased a pedophile. Pedophiles were once 15 year old teenagers. I doubt he asked for help unless he was caught but what have the mental health specialists told us.... YOU CAN'T CURE A PEDOPHILE NOR CAN YOU REHAB THEM!!!

It's possible it was just the tip of the iceberg, but still--he obviously knew he did something wrong and needed help. The physical exam of the little girl showed no evidence of penetration, so at least it didn't go that far . However, I'm not making qualifications and drawing any lines---ANY kind of sexual molestation is devastating.

We don't know if she was penetrated or not. All we know was there was no damage done to the area.

Attorneys say Detroit father 'not in control of himself' when he killed son

The attorneys for a man accused of shooting his son to death after the boy admitted to inappropriate physical conduct with a relative said they will argue that their client was so upset by the revelation he is not to blame for his actions.

"There is no sane reaction to the rape of a child," Corbett Edge O'Meara said on CNN's "Headline News" on Friday evening.

Jamar Pinkney Sr., 37, of Detroit, is charged with murder, felonious assault and felony firearm in the Monday death of his son Jamar Jr., 15. The elder Pinkney is jailed without bond pending a Dec. 1 preliminary hearing in 30th District Court in Highland Park.

Police said there is no report of Jamar Jr. raping or assaulting anyone. Family members said the relative was seen by a doctor on Sunday who said there had been no sexual assault.

Lazette Cherry wanted only to help her son, Jamar Pinkney Jr., when she called his father, and shared some of the most disturbing news she ever had heard.

Jamar, 15, had confessed to her that he had inappropriate contact with his 3-year-old half-sister in his father's home on Newport on Detroit's east side.

"I called and told his father this isn't something you sweep under the rug," Cherry said Wednesday.

Jamar Pinkney Sr. showed up at Cherry's house in Highland Park on Monday afternoon with a gun, she said.

"He started beating him right here," Cherry said from her living room. "I said, 'No, please stop!' "But the father marched Jamar, a sophomore at King High School, outside.

I still think it's odd that no medical facility reported it.

That comment has always struck me as being rather strange. There are so many different articles on this case, but it almost seems like the dad knew and did nothing, but when mom called him he ended up going overboard. I'm just kind of rambling. There's just something, overall about this whole thing, that seems "off" to me. (Besides the fact that a 3 yr old may have been molested and a 15 yr old was killed by his father)

According to another article, the 3yo's mom took her to the hospital for an exam & she said the little girl was molested...then Jamar's mom talked to him about it & he called his dad @ 3 a.m & asked for forgiveness...then dad came over around 10 a.m. & said the little girl's mom wanted to press charges...Jamar tells his dad that "I'm sorry" & that he needs counseling.

DETROIT (AP) — A Detroit area father who shot his 15-year-old son to death after the teen admitted molesting a 3-year-old girl has received 37 to 80 years in prison.

Jamar Pinkney Sr. of Highland Park was sentenced Thursday by Wayne County Circuit Judge Brian Sullivan in the Nov. 16 death of Jamar Pinkney Jr.

He was convicted April 1 of second-degree murder.
