New lead triggers search for body of Jessica Heeringa

According to a police official familiar with the case, a team of investigators and cadaver dogs searched an area near an abandoned railroad trail Friday morning after receiving information that Heeringa's body was dumped there. The cadaver search was unsuccessful, but the investigation is ongoing.

According to the official, the search took place about a quarter mile down the street from the home of Jeffrey Willis — the 46-year-old married factory worker who was charged last month in the 2014 shooting death of a mother who was killed while jogging on a rural road in Muskegon County.

MUSKEGON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A month after murder suspect Jeffrey Willis was arrested for kidnapping, his wife has filed for divorce.

[...]

The divorce filed in Muskegon County Circuit Court shows Willis and his wife, Charlene, have been separated since his May 17 arrest for the alleged kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl.

In the complaint, the wife says nothing about the trouble he’s facing, only that there’s been a breakdown in the marriage.

Is Chelsea Bruck one of Willis' victims?

Is Chelsea Bruck one of Willis' victims?

No one knows yet but I think it could be possible. It was a big weekend Halloween party. He could have driven that far trolling for a victim IMO.

Is Chelsea Bruck one of Willis' victims?

Unlikely.

Willis's comfort zone seems to have been confined to the Muskegon County area, and the Bruck case does not seem geographically consistent with that. From what I understand, other departments around the state are exchanging information with Muskegon police in hopes over uncovering other crimes, though nothing else has been discovered at this point. I would assume that the Bruck case was one of the first they looked at, and since we haven't heard anything about it, I'd think they likely have Willis ruled out (alibi ect).

Agreed - and Willis seems to take his victims off the street, or from their place of work, when no one else is around ... so walking a woman out of a party doesn't fit. Wasn't there a report that photos were found in his van? Has anything come of that yet?

Really? The teen he kidnapped had walked out of a party and got lost when she met Willis. He used to video women in shopping areas, I think he would try all different ways to get women. If the woman needed help at a party, he would be the good samaritan to let her use his phone or give her a ride.

I think it's still too early in the investigation to be ruling Willis out of any cases. Maybe his DNA, once it's finally processed and entered into the national database will link him to some unsolved crimes.

I'm wondering how much he traveled outside of the state, if at all. I found it a little weird he never strayed away from Muskegon county for his entire life.

Willis was born in 1970. He may be responsible for the murder of a 15 year old girl in 1996, when he was 26 years old. He is now 46, and still active as a predator. There must be many more.

Agreed. There must be.

Maybe he traveled further in his earlier days to choose his victims, then started shopping closer to home as he became more comfortable and experienced? Maybe he initially traveled across state lines or at least further away in other counties/townships?

Also, what about the possibility of child abductions?

I found a 31 year old female woman missing from Montague, MI since 3/1/2014. Montague appears to be fairly close to Norton Shores:

I see that Montague MI is around 6.8 miles from Automobile Road, where Rebekah Bletsch was found, and it's around 8.8 miles from Automobile Road to where the 16-year-old girl escaped from him and ran for help in North Green Creek Road.

I'm still wondering if he had any reason to go to Evansdale.

Man charged with lying to police in Jeffrey Willis case
http://www.wzzm13.com/news/local/mu...ng-to-police-in-jeffrey-willis-case/250353536

That man is a friend of Jeffery Willis'. Why would he cover and lie for him? Did Willis say he was innocent and asked his friend to lie or is the friend involved in more than just a cover up?
From Wood8:
According to court records, Bluhm was being interviewed at his home by Michigan State Police on May 18 when police say he lied about the last time he saw Willis and whether Willis was in possession of a handgun.
