I believe there was a man who went missing from Middleville recently, which is very near there.

Still following everything, unfortunately I just do not have much to say.....

It continuously boggles my mind that someone can just disappear. That one person can take another, remove them from their loved ones-their child. Morally, it is impossible for me to understand. And, literally & physically...how can one person kidnap another and hide them or a body??? And leave no evidence behind? And no one sees anything that causes them to think "something is not right with this person...he has locks on the doors inside his house and won't let anyone go in them...or humm this guy is a tier 3 RSO who drives a DWT and the police are looking for a DWT and he has a stab wound in his neck!...time to alert authorities!"
It happens, obviously. I wish there was something we could do to stop it.

Whew, sorry for the rant!

Finally back on line with a new wireless link. I still have not found out about the remains(was it a body? what sex?) that was found 2hours north in michigan city about the time Jessica was abducted. This case is really moving! Based on that glasses post, perhaps that park should be searched again.

When I was 18 I was robbed at gunpoint while working at a gas station during my regular 3-11pm shift. I was scheduled to work with one other employee, which was standard on that shift (overnight shift, 11-7am, always worked alone though. Our store always had a big burly male working that shift).

We had no security cameras or panic button of any kind the night the lotto jackpot was at it's highest ever up to that point in my state (this was in 91 or 92 I think) and as a result we were taking in way more cash than usual. Rule was to make a safe drop every excess $200 we had in either the lotto drawer or the register, and I was always good about doing that. That night my co-worker kept on letting money accumulate in Lotto though, so every time I went to the machine it seemed like I was making multiple safe drops in $200 increments.

He was charismatic as all heck though and convinced me to do the cleaning while he worked the register so that's what I was doing, crouched on the floor in one of the aisles wiping down a shelf, when two men came in wearing full camouflage from head to toe, one with a gun held straight out in front of him pointed at my co-worker who was at the register. My first thought was to freeze so they wouldn't see or hear me, then second thought a half second later was to try to get out the back door and run to the businesses next door to call police.

But both of those thoughts came and went in a fraction of a second and before I could do either, one of them noticed me and told me to come over and get behind the counter and sit on my hands on the floor by the lotto machine. He told me not to move or talk. So I did what he said, and one ponited the gun at my head at point blank range while the other put all the money in his bag from lotto first, then the cash register, then they took off after telling us to not move until we counted to 1000.

My very calm co-worker waited until we got to about 100 before he jumped up an told me to get up... somehow he had already had thought out that I should use the secondary cash drawer to help the stunned customers who were just starting to come into the store, while he went out back and called police. I'm pretty sure that later they suspected my co-worker of being in on the robbery due to his repeated insistences that I not be at the registers or make safe drops, and his making of several stealthy phone calls during the night before the robbery, but that's neither here nor there.

My point of telling this story is, even though in that split second I thought to run for the backdoor, I didn't have a chance. The gun was pointed at me, and i followed the guy's orders. It was only money, I figured... better to give it to him than risk my life. I can't imagine how it would've completely blind-sided me if he then took ME instead of the money. I'd have never expected it. It was a convenience store, of COURSE I assumed I was being robbed and should just comply with him in order to save my life. That's what people do at convenience stores, if they're bad people -- they rob them, it's just what you expect. I wonder if she went through that same thought process... or if she bolted for the back door like I was going to, but was caught up with and something happened to cause some blood shed... or... I don't know.

I wish so much that I had something from my experience that could help find Jessica but I guess I don't... I just hope she can be found SOON, one way or another. :(

In a lot of larger cities, there are areas where there is high crime activity, and a culture of looking the other way because LE is hated more than criminals are, or of remaining silent for fear of retribution. I don't like that, but at least I accept that it happens. I fear that may be what happened in Terrilynn Monette's case that I am following. There are areas of New Orleans, from what I gather, where if someone found her car or knew where it was, they would probably keep their mouths shut and go on about their business. That is probably true of parts of most larger cities. But we aren't talking about a big city here. We are talking about Norton Shores. I don't get the sense that it is a hotbed of violent crime. Surely there is someone that knows something, or suspects something or someone, that may break this case wide open, and apparently hasn't come forth with that information, and I am left to wonder why. My son's 18th birthday present today ... he wanted this for a year

Did anyone hear about the earthquake that was felt all the way to Michigan? It struck just NW of Ottawa.

My brother likes to notify our mother when she is pointing out the obvious. Usually I just reply, "Yes mom, that's true".
With cases, it's like trying to win the lotto, in that, the one pair of glasses, shoe, whatever it is that's found, could be a possible clue to the missing person. No one really knows if it is or isn't until an assessment is made. Does that mean no one should ever look for any clues?

Anyway, the not looking angle seems to be the way they prefer to carry out this case as they aren't out searching for physical clues for the purpose of locating Jessica.

I can't recall another missing person case that has been halted or stalled like this one after only a week or two. We all keep saying that LE must know a lot more than they're letting out to the media, but I'm getting the impression that there has been little or no movement in the case and that LE is as perplexed as the rest of us.

I can't believe that the vehicle make/model/year hasn't been reported yet. Chrysler headquarters is in Auburn Hills, MI and not on another planet! If the sketch was a "perfect 10" as indicated by Chief Shaw, then it would seem that the person of interest should have been easily identified. LE hasn't done and doesn't encourage ground searches because Jessica was taken in a vehicle. After 3+ weeks, that vehicle could be anywhere.

Jessica's family and fiancé must be getting frustrated and are no doubt extremely worried about her safety and whereabouts. This young woman needs to be found sooner rather than later. Maybe someone will find something over the upcoming holiday weekend when Michigan's west coast will be busy with tourists. :please:

Maybe LE did get the results back on what type of mini van this is, but haven't reported on it yet to the media? My Opinion Only.....

I cannot be positive but this article says "alleged abduction" where I believe before they have been calling abduction.... Just an observation and may be nothing more than the wording of the article?

Interesting observation... I think they're usually more careful about adding "alleged" once someone has been arrested/charged/named as a suspect, aren't they?

Guess we have to wait and see what these "high priority tips" are all about.

I phoned a tip in abouit checking the video on busses, vans, and armored cars for the plate of the van on the weekend. Perhaps it is one they consider high priority. Good websleuthing!

I just got out of work and headed to class until 6. Has anyone heard if nspd will give a statement or interview today and when that will happen?
