Upcoming trial in Canada.
A 53-year-old Mississauga woman accused of killing her teenaged autistic son has been ordered to stand trial. Seow Cheng Sim made her first appearance in Superior Court in Brampton April 27 after an Ontario court judge ordered her to stand trial on a charge of first-degree murder in the death of her son, 15-year-old St. Marcellinus Secondary School student Tony Khor, back in the fall of 2009. Court records show Sim will be back in court July 31 for a pre-trial hearing. No trial date has been set. Police allege the murder occurred sometime between Oct. 24-25. Investigators won't say how he died, but well-placed sources say he was strangled. Officers were called to a room at the Homewood Suites Hotel on Edwards Blvd. shortly after 11 a.m. on a Sunday. The boy's body was found inside with obvious signs of trauma. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene. Investigators allege the woman checked herself and her son into a hotel room that night and killed him the next morning. Boon Khor, the dead boy's father, thought his wife was "cooling off" in Niagara Falls after an argument on Friday night. Khor said his wife asked him for a divorce that night. She got up Saturday morning and drove away with their son. "She has been depressed," said a heart-broken Khor back in 2010. "But I never imagined something like this would happen. I never saw the sign coming." Khor described how his poorly functioning autistic son had become more difficult to live with and the stress of raising him had become extremely difficult for his wife. "His life was tough and miserable," Khor said. "But he is what he is. We accepted it. We loved him very much
