I know they can ask media not to report, but I hate to see this become a trend...JMO

LE is one thing, the media another, but what about Venus' family--have they said anything recently?

Ok, well, I just called and spoke to a gal in the news department at WWMT Channel 3 in Kalamazoo. I asked why there had not been any new reports from them regarding the disappearance of VS. She says that each day they contact MSP for any updates and that each day they are told there is nothing new to report. She also told me that the truck is still NOT back in Michigan, and I said, "are you serious?" and she said, yes, it's not back in Michigan yet. I said, I can't believe that." I also asked her about under what circumstances an online article is written and then half of the information in that article is later revised and deleted, what would be a circumstance where that would occur and she said it is highly uncommon and only happens when LE retracts some of the information they originally provided in a media report after the fact.

So there you have it. She suggested talking to the person who puts the articles online to be more specific, but I had to get going...

FWIW

My hero! :toast:
Why do I get the feeling that LE isn't all that concerned about the truck?

I find that odd too!

Her father went from being very vocal to very silent.

I'm sure he is still vocal, but there are just no reporters around anymore to be vocal to so you don't hear about it.
His daughter is still missing.
IMO There should still be local coverage since she has not been found.
IMO a missing mother is news.

Seems there should still be some local reports to keep her face and her story out there. There are 2 little girls who need someone to find their mother.

I think you might get some media coverage if you held a vigil, or a search. Somthing along the lines of...If the law enforcement wont keep this story out in the media than thoes of us in the community will. I would also like to point out that an OVERWHELMING amount of people who are abducted are found with in 1-2 miles of where they were last seen.

Sadly, if LE is not keeping story in the news, it is usually up to the family to do so. A search or a vigil is a good idea.

Doug, or someone impersonating him, is due in court today. Maybe the media will report about it...or, maybe not.

Doug Stewart back in St. Joseph court
Hearing over allegations of inappropriate contact

CENTREVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) - Another hearing over the children of Doug and Venus Stewart is set for Thursday afternoon in a St. Joseph County courtroom.

On May 28, Doug Stewart was denied visitation rights to his two children, who are now living with Venus' parents, Therese and Larry McComb. Venus Stewart, 32, was kidnapped outside her parents' home in Colon Township on April 26 and has not been seen since.

Investigators describe Doug Stewart as a "person of interest" in the case.

When Doug was denied visitation rights, a Child Protective Services worker cited concerns with placing the children in Doug's care following allegations from one of the girls of innappropriate sexual contact. Charges were never filed in connection with those allegations.

I'm assuming it will be Doug, not an impersonator. Doug is the children's father.

That was pretty funny, Amster!

I think the rubber will meet the road today-we will hopefully get a better indication of whether or not he poses a threat and if he may be charged. JMO

I'm sorry, but that makes no sense at all.

If this is to be our standard, why not just dispense of our criminal Court system altogether (and repeal a few amendments while we're at it)?

I'm not saying Doug doesn't have the right to show up or file for custody of his daughters. However, considering the circumstances, especially since it appears the reason Venus was abducted was so he could regain full legal custody of his daughters, it is pretty outlandish that he has the nerve to file for custody much less appear in court after the judge and public have learned Doug enlisted someone to pose as him so he could be in Michigan undetected during the time Venus was apparently abducted.

The hearing today is in the family court which has nothing to do with criminal law.

I have to agree. he does have the right, but I think he would look mighty foolish in light of all the recent press he has received. ( well, the most recent that is out) But, who knows maybe his double or triple might show up with him to give support! :waitasec:

OK. I withdraw my statement that I believe Doug Stewart is insane. Instead, I will call him a fool! All I know is I sure wouldn't have the guts to show up to court if I was in his shoes! I wouldn't even want to leave the house. That's just me.

I realize there are people who have something in them that allows them to believe they can fool everyone. And, it is clear Doug thought he could do just that when he enlisted the imposter.

I am not saying Doug is criminally insane. I am saying that it is just plain crazy for him to go to court today thinking there is a remote possibility that the judge would grant his petition for full custody of the girls after what law enforcement has learned about the imposter as well as the fact they verified it was Doug who purchased the tarp, hat, gloves and shovel along with being able to absolutely place him in Michigan on the day Venus disappeared.

And, let us not forget he is the ONLY POI in this case! (according to LE)

All just MY opinion of course!
Why? Thats your own opinion and you certainly have that right! While he may not be insane, some of the things that he has done or been reported to have done, doesn't make him look real sane. But that could simply be.... he has a cocky attitude and thats what we are seeing.(You know like, I can do whatever I want and I am far to smart for them to ever catch me) Just my own opinions of course

Oh, I see, I've been under the assumption that Doug hasn't been found guilty of anything in this case. But, now, I see that being named a POI does mean guilt! I've been so misinformed...:crazy:
