Details of Disappearance​

Yusuf was last seen leaving a friend's house after being dropped off there on October 1, 1999. Authorities believe he left of his own accord and may still be in the Eastpointe area. Few details are available in Yusuf's case.

Man still missing more than 22 years after leaving friend's Eastpointe home

Yusuf Wilson was 17 when he disappeared. He would be 40 today.

Last seen date, October 1, 1999, was a Friday.
Temperature on that and subsequent day was low around 22 degrees, high mid 30s.
Yusuf was <2 months shy of his 18th birthday.
Eastpointe, MI is 13 miles NE of Detroit (shown in map below).

We often do not know the circumstances around a disappearance, especially on those of younger people considered runaways. If we knew the situation many of these kids were in, we wouldn't want to send them back home. Having said that, Yusuf has been away for 25 years. Even if LE believed him to initially leave on his own accord, 25 years is a Long time not to have confirmed contact. His file says he was dropped off in Eastpointe and was last seen leaving there, no mention of how.

This young John Doe was found in the Detroit River on the Ontario, Canada side. Specifically in Windsor, some 15 miles downriver from Eastpointe. Yusuf meets the physical stats and perhaps other characteristics. The PMI on the John Doe is listed as a few days/months. Even so, Yusuf should be compared if he hasn't been given similar characteristics and initial thought by LE that he left on his own accord.
