EXCITED? EXCITED? to announce a golf tournament in Bryce's name?

I hear what you’re saying, Trino, but to advocate devilishly for a moment:

- if the goal IS to get Bryce’s name out (and presumably, raise money for the foundation) then would announcing it ‘sorrowfully’ better accomplish that goal?

It seems that the people likely to attend such an event are likely not the same people who would have any information about Bryce’s whereabouts.

Possibly they’re people who can donate money or political capital towards the foundation’s mission.

In any case, it does “feel weird”. Bryce’s Blessings received their IRS approval letter on 1 December, which means the org was created extremely quickly after Bryce went missing.

There are other words in the English language. But "excited?"
"We are pleased..."
"We will be hosting..."

This reads to me like they've found a way to transform their grief into gratitude.

That tells me they know he's not coming back and they're committed to carrying his legacy forward.

If he'd died on a mountain and hadn't been found, I'd think they might find peace knowing he was forever at home somewhere on the peak...

They may have clues into his psyche prior to his disappearance or to his nature and that information gives them peace. Or peace enough.

Are they to stay weighted down in grief until his remains are recovered? And what then if they're not recoverable? Perhaps he expired in the very same places they would have scattered his ashes?

Personally I think they've made their grief private and their gratitude public.

A testament to resilience.

A golf tournament, most likely with strangers present, does not seem a form of private or public grief and gratitude. To me the most important thing would be to bring him home, to know he is at rest in a place important to family. I cannot see Fort Snelling being that place, especially since no one seems to have a valid clue where he actually is. What if this ends up a homicide, and he is found elsewhere? Right now there is no 100% accuracy as to where he is. It's, "We think he's in the park."

Fort Snelling State Park is not a mountain. Conditions are not insurmountable. He will eventually be found if he is indeed in the park. If he is in the park...

I wonder (purely speculatively) given how quickly the foundation seems to have been set up, if there isn’t a situation behind the scenes something like that of Jessica Jo Marshik. She hasn’t been found, but at some point the police/family acknowledged they had strong reason to believe she was gone (without saying what that reason was).

Possibly the foundation is an action - it gives them a place to process and grieve and feel as if they’re doing something about it.

Foundations require money to work their mission. I understand why it may be seen as crass, or misdirected, or other variations on ‘but why aren’t they doing X’, but I think the Borcas are doing what they think best in a terrible situation, while also trying to make things better for others in similar straits.

IMO, the fact that the family created the foundation only a month after he went missing, makes me think they knew at that point he was not alive, and maybe what happened. If they didn’t have a clue, why would they do that? Yet they say the search for answers continues. Confusing to me.
I do agree about finding a body though. Without one, how does one know for sure he is not alive somewhere? Or what happened? And if they are pretty sure he is in the pond behind Essendant, how do you just leave him in there and not recover his body? I think kids swim and dive in that pond. What if he floats up while kids are there?! Ugh.
I would also think the family would want a proper funeral, closure, etc. And if he is in the park, he should be recoverable. If they think he made it to the river or was placed there or made it out of the park or removed, might be more difficult to find. Maybe they think that is the case, and chances of recovering the body are minimal, so are moving on.
Again, just thoughts running through my head…

Just somehow think there could be more to the story, although I have no ideas. Still questioning why he hasn't been found and wondering if he is in the park. Weather is good. Conditions are favorable. Where is he if he's there?

Jumping off of this, I wonder if this family just normally has advisors, is smart, and followed advice on quickly setting up a way to direct donations that may have already started coming in during the first search. They might not have even had to do much if they just accepted the advice and then others took care of it. I am so sorry for these parents and yet glad they seem to have support and resources at work.

Thinking more about the family offered reward... LE has (or had) divers so it seems the reward is not directed at underwater searches or river searches. There have been numerous Ft Snelling above ground and drone searches that have not found him. Soooo where is the reward directed? Could it be a subtle focus elsewhere other than the state park?

The Bryce’s Blessings foundation site still confuses me. I have re-read it dozens of times. Celebrating his life and how he ‘beat us there’. And the ‘search for answers continues’. But nothing about the search for Bryce. It sounds like they know he is gone/deceased, but how? If they believe he is in the pond, have they tried to get him out? It’s mid summer and has been months. And why still all the drone/land searches? How have those not located him? Why the reward? Do they think he was removed from the area? He was just put in the NamUs database in May I believe. Why not earlier? And why zero media coverage or an Eagan Police site update if they are still searching for answers and haven’t found him yet?

We're all confused.

Amazing the Eagan police don't want/need help, but it sure seems they do. Not even an update. Nothing. Anyone know if searches are still ongoing? What happened to the idea to drain the pond? Are expert divers involved? If he's in the pond, why hasn't the body surfaced? Why hasn't any tangible item been recovered (sans tie)? Does the Earth just swallow up a person, their clothing, a cell phone, a wallet, or did something sinister happen? Time for the Eagan police to update.

There have really been no substantial updates or information since he went missing.
Sinister? Kidnapped? Smiley Face Theory? Still in the pond? In the river? Left of his own free will? More to the story or hiding something?
Anyone’s guess still.

So, if the Eagan police really think he's still in the park, are they going to just leave him there? If so, this has got to be the most bizarre thing ever.

Last I heard months ago, multiple K9s tracked him in the pond and the family was considering draining it this spring. Did they decide not to? Are they just going to leave him in there? Did they not find him in there? Did they find other evidence? Are they still looking in the park or elsewhere?
Did everyone give up on finding him?
No updates for months.
I just don’t get it.
Someone has to know something…anything.

This was in the news today. I think it answers some questions. They are devastated and since I have never lost a child especially under these circumstances I can't imagine what a "normal" reaction is to what they have been through. I think people who are insinuating that they haven't done enough is completely uncalled for. None of us knows what has or hasn't been done because they haven't been all over MSM. I think it is extremely commendable that they started a foundation to help others with what they have and continue to go through. I think they need a way to direct their pain over their loss and helping others is an amazing tribute. I'm guessing they have made peace with the fact he is gone from this world and though I'm sure recovering his remains would help with closure the fact is there are over 20,000 missing people in the US and they may never find him. Having faith strong enough to accept that he is gone is pretty incredible. They are still looking for him and have expanded the area. We have heard from local people who have said the terrain is rough so perhaps they are only letting professionals do it. As for the pond if I remember correctly at least one cadaver dog hit on the pond or quarry where they had divers when he first went missing. It is my understanding that cadaver dogs can't pick up a certain person only if there is a human body. I also recall reading about how a body will surface once the water warms up due to the gases in the body. I would think if he was in the pond he would have come up by now unless he is caught on something. As for the draining of the water; was there ever a confirmation of any permits actually being issued to allow this to happen? I am assuming they would either need do dig another pond or truck the water out. Does anyone know how it would be done? My heart hurts for the entire family and I certainly hope they are able to recover his remains.

Another non-information post this week. https://bringmethenews.com/minnesot...ng-9-months-later-family-shares-new-statement

"Multiple search efforts have taken place since last fall, using "trained canines, watercraft, ground grid searches, drones and water sonar equipment," according to the family.

"These search groups have also covered much of the industrial areas adjacent to the river valley as well as a dozen miles of railroad tracks," the family said.

MOO
I have no doubt the family is devastated and had a difficult 9 months. And no idea what it is like to have a missing child or anyone this way.
I do think not enough has been done though. From day 1 when Eagan LE turned away half the people who showed up to search. Why? There were organized searches for months for Madeline Kingsbury with a much more expansive area. Very few updates about anything. Maybe family and LE wants to keep things quiet, but why if it would help find Bryce?
And not sure that the news from the other day answers much more than we already knew…other than they are still searching for him and expanding the search.
I don’t know details on draining a pond, but I would suspect there is a way. And if they thought he was in there, why would they not drain it? Or did they and not find him, so they are expanding their search?
What if he made it out of that area and was abducted? How do they know he is gone from this world? The missing teenage girl from AZ 4 years ago was just found in MT. Not sure I would ever give up hope, if I didn’t know for sure.

Good points. I still wonder about offering a $30,000 reward if the object is to find him in the park. Seems a reward might indicate he could be elsewhere.

Yes, seems odd if they think he is in the pond or park just from being intoxicated and falling. And because LE has said multiple times that no foul play suspected. How do they know that without a body?
Unless they are just hoping for any new information.
I also remember reading months ago that someone saw missing posters for him in Louisiana. Why there? Can anyone confirm hearing/reading that?

Got some new thoughts.
The Yankee Tavern is located at Yankee Doodle Rd and Highway 13. Supposedly it closes at 1:00a.m., although the October hours are unknown to me. What if someone was lurking after closing and picked him up there?

At most, it is a 3 minute walk along Highway 13 from Essendant where Sophie the dog picked up his scent to the Yankee Tavern and Yankee Doodle Rd. If he didn't get picked up at the tavern, maybe by that time he sobered up a bit and realized where he was and started walking along Yankee Doodle Rd. toward his apartment. Along Yankee Doodle Rd. came someone who offered him a ride. I think he would have taken it: chilly out, no cell reception.

Searching Ft. Snelling State Park has revealed absolutely nothing. Past time to look elsewhere.
