It looks like they got him, at least in part, by looking up his wife's computerized medical records without permission. It also appears that he was a pharmacist who went to medical school, which isn't unusual.

I'm a retired pharmacist, and colchicine is some nasty stuff when it's used properly! That smoothie must have tasted awful, and that's only the beginning of it.

I'm also grateful they didn't have any children.

The thing with a smoothie, it can conceal a lot. It's opaque, so things that would show in a clear liquid, don't. They tend to be thick and can have bits in them, so any textural weirdness is disguised. And if you put in a bitter ingredient like wheatgrass or spinach, the drinker just puts it down to the greens having a stronger bitter taste that day.

Nasty. Cold. Sadistic. Patient.

Lock him up and throw away the key.

MOO

It looks like Connors dad turned off commenting on his Facebook. I am very glad to see that. He has many beautiful posts about Betty and I’d hate to see them tarnished with hateful comments now that Connor has been charged. His dad must be hurting so bad after losing his daughter in law to what he believed were natural causes, only to now find out it was his own son (allegedly, for now). Both families must be devastated.

While neighbors never knew what was truly happening behind closed doors, one recalls overhearing some of the commotion.

“One morning there was a bunch of their dogs were barking over there a whole bunch and I might’ve heard a little shouting or something while we were sleeping, and then sure enough the cops kind of came soon after.”

Court documents also showed Connor was in severe debt.

One of the links someone posted earlier implied that the infidelity was on her side, which doesn't justify any of this in any way. As for the "severe debt", chances are, it was gambling or something other than student loans (on top of those, of course).

Tired of these cases where a spouse poisons their partner. It takes such a spiteful, heartless person to poison someone they “loved” enough to marry! Poisoning causes the victim such agony and pain and is such a cruel way to go out of this world. I feel so bad for the victim. I hope this loser faces the maximum sentence when that time comes, along with the awful dentist who just did this to his wife recently. When will people learn to just divorce their partner instead of MURDER them?!

All JMO!

It was probably more about wanting/needing the insurance payout.

You don’t get insurance for divorcing your spouse.

Trying to cancel the autopsy was a super stupid move, as was insisting on immediate cremation. Why not just yell I DID IT!

I am neither an attorney, detective, or investigator…… but with that qualifier - I thought I read recent reports, that the arrested spouse’s computer search history also included conversions from body weight in pounds to kilograms, and dosage / perhaps lethal information on colchicine?

Not knowing the state statutes governing murder - it seems that he is being charged on murder two. If the above toxicity searching proves true, would sure seem to support murder one or premeditated?
MOO

PS…. researched it again. Not sure whether CBS news is approved but here is one source today reporting on that body weight calculation aspect of this case: Poison specialist Connor Bowman fatally poisoned his pharmacist wife and tried to stop autopsy, Minnesota authorities say

Ah, colchicine. That's more what I would expect. Someone's been reading up on toxicity and possibly watching a bunch of old school Forensic Files to decide on that one. Enjoy your life in prison, Bowman. It's going to be where you stay forever.

He's a doctor. All it takes is listening carefully during gout lectures and pharmacology. They always go over toxicity.

Assuming their families are not independently wealthy- the student loan debt of TWO PharmDs and medical school may have figured in somehow. What a horrifying story.

There are forgiveness programs he would have been eligible for had he researched it instead of (allegedly) researching how to kill his wife. If guilty, he should absolutely get LWOP. MOO

Colchicine is not used as much now as it was even a few years ago, and keep in mind that he's a pharmacist who went to medical school, AND worked for a poison control center!

You'd be surprised at how little training doctors get in pharmacology and toxicology while they're in medical school. Your own doctors, and that includes specialists, have their list of 20, 30, 40, ish drugs that they use regularly and those are the ones they really know about.

BBM. I am a doctor. I don't agree.

All he had to do was browse "A&E" for a few hours, and he'd have his method:

Why is he only charged with 2nd degree murder?

Why are they offering him bail?

Isnt there a good chance he will either ‘disappear’ or even kill himself to avoid life in prison?
In Minnesota 1st degree murder needs to be charged by a Grand Jury. It’s coming…….
