I'll dig it up, but I do remember seeing that he had it prior. He said he brought it up from the basement to the upper level to prevent rusting, but I don't remember a date of purchase on the gun.

Grand jury indicts Nicholas Firkus on first-degree murder in fatal St. Paul shooting of wife in 2010 – Twin Cities

Sept. 3, 2021
A Ramsey County grand jury on Wednesday indicted Nicholas Firkus on two counts of murder in the fatal shooting of his wife at their St. Paul home in 2010.

The grand jury found that there was enough evidence to indict Firkus with one count of first-degree murder (premeditated) and one count of second-degree murder (intentional). An indictment is similar to a criminal charge, but different in that the charge comes from a grand jury composed of county residents who determine whether there is enough evidence to indict. A grand jury is typically used if the offense is punishable by life imprisonment.

In May, the Ramsey County attorney’s office initially charged Firkus with intentional second-degree murder.

Firkus pleads not guilty in St. Paul cold case murder | kare11.com

ST PAUL, Minn. — The family of Heidi Firkus packed the courtroom for a Tuesday hearing. Her parents came face to face with the man they believe killed their daughter as he told a judge he didn't do it.

“As to count one, Murder in the First Degree, premeditated, guilty or not guilty?” asked Judge Leonardo Castro.

“Not guilty,” replied Nick FIrkus, while seated next to his high-profile defense attorney Joe Friedberg.
 
I’m so curious to learn how this will shake out. His parents must be funding his defense and I imagine it could get very costly. I wonder if Nick would be offered some kind of plea deal and Whether he would accept it or if he thinks he could go free after trial.
Of course I would hope no deal would be offered Until approved by the Erickson family. They deserve final say & can’t even begin to imagine what they’ve been through.

Plead not guilty. $3M bond or $1M on condition of surrendering passport & not leaving Minnesota. Posted non-cash bond ($1M) & released. Plead not guilty.
