John Should definitely be looked into by LE if he hasn't been already. According to google maps (of course this is by today's roads) Janesville is about 2 hours away from Isanti Co. That doesn't seem an unreasonable distance to dump a body, which I assume is what happened since this UID was found in a shallow grave.

Submitted.

A few possibilities: one that I really like is John Deeny http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/d/deeny_john.html who has been missing from Janesville, MN since 1973. At the time, he was about to turn 20, 5'8" tall and 175 pounds, and had surgical scars on his thighs. Christopher Freeman http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/f/freeman_christopher.html and his friend Geno Ranelli http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/r/ranelli_geno.html both went missing from St. Paul, MN within a few weeks of each other in 1977. David Thomson http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/t/thomson_david.html has scoliosis and several previous fractures. Calvin Anderson http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/a/anderson_calvin.html is believed to be a murder victim. Dermot Kelly http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/k/kelly_dermot.html possibly left home of his own accord. Orin Anderson http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/a/anderson_orin.html has little information available.

"UID was estimated to have been dead for 2 years." All of those cases are too old to be the UID.

I would like more information on exactly where he was found. The driveway at this address goes in quite a ways to the property. Was the UID all the way up near the house or down by the end of the road or some other part of the property? The house was built in 1997 and the body found in 2003. What's strange is this is a fairly large property (38 acres), what are the odds of digging up a body just randomly on your property?

I would guess it's somewhere away from the house and driveway based on this from the Doenetwork page: "...when an excavator discovered a skull in a load of earth. Investigators discovered human remains at the original burial site and the site where the earth was being dumped." http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/499ummn.html

Namus describes the earth being moved as sand, specifically "while moving loads of sand with a bobcat."

Both of which sound to me like it wasn't next to the house. I looked on satellite view (https://goo.gl/maps/PHSBRKKQ49o) and there appear to be several sandpit-looking areas near the highway.

People do just randomly stumble on remains all the time, while hunting, jogging, doing yard work, digging out basements, etc. etc. But this might not have been completely random; if sandy soil had previously been removed for landscaping fill or something like that, the previous clearing would make it easier to dig a fairly deep grave. The area appears to be heavily treed.

Wherever he was buried on that property, he was likely there for some time. Long before the house was built. As Piknik mentioned earlier the house was built there in 1997 and he wasn't discovered until 2003. I doubt that someone would have been able to bury him there after that without somebody noticing, particularly the homeowner.

Though that field access road could have been a perfect dumping ground if the Earth had been disturbed slightly before the victim was placed there.

Another possibility: Theodore Dengerud http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/d/dengerud_theodore.html lived about 100 miles from Isanti in New London, MN. On the day of his disappearance he was involved in a car accident just outside of Sunburg, MN; an area he was not familiar with. He is believed to have sustained a head injury in the crash. There are reports that he may have been sighted elsewhere in Minnesota after his disappearance but none have been confirmed. At the time he was 30 years old, 5'8"-5'9" tall and 195 pounds, had black or dark brown hair and blue eyes, and had a mustache. He has previously broken his left ankle.

Three ruleouts now: Joshua Guimond, Harold Haynes, and Christopher Kerze.

It wouldn't hurt to submit him. You would think most of the male missing persons cases before the discovery of this UID would have been vetted.

I'll get the side by side later when I'm on my laptop, but it looks like Bernard's dental irregularities are on his left side while the decedent's are on his right.

The dental chart is posted back on page 1, if you want to tackle that.

Would Bernard not be ruled out since they think this guy died around 2000?
