Nick Chaix, who is an emergency natural gas responder, has lived across the street in Farmington from Kingsbury’s parents for over 10 years.

“I consider them family,” Chaix said. “I’m over there almost every day and more frequently now that Maddi’s kids are there.”

Chaix said after the discovery of Kingsbury’s body, the arrest of Adam Fravel for her murder and her children coming to stay in Farmington with their grandparents, he’s wanted to help the family. He said play equipment was one way he could help make sure Kingsbury’s children, 5 and 2 years old, have a place to play, grow, explore and be themselves while going through the loss of a parent.

“Looking out my window every day and seeing the kids out there, knowing they’re going to grow up without both their parents is super hard and it’s been emotional,” Chaix said. “This has been truly devastating and heartbreaking to everyone that loved her, especially her kids.”

A hearing in the case of Adam Fravel has been postponed to Sept. 22, originally scheduled for Thursday at the Winona County District Court.

I'm pleased to know that the discovery is "voluminous and ongoing." :)

In the court filing Wednesday, asking for the hearing postponement, Fravel’s attorney Zachary Bauer wrote that discovery in the case is “voluminous and ongoing.

In asking to delay the omnibus hearing, one of his defense attorneys said they expect another 400 pages of discovery to be disclosed and the prosecution says the results of new testing done by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension won’t be back until mid-August.

... and not all the body camera video is available yet as reasons for the postponement.

“Search warrant affidavits also show police looking into Fravel’s finances as a potential motive for murder. Fravel was unemployed, and bank records showed that every deposit into Fravel’s account in the month of March (except for eight cents in interest) was derived from transfers from Maddi.”

Worth reading. Thank you, TippyLynn.

I wonder if Fravel knew about the possibility of Maddi being pregnant. Perhaps this is what started the argument that led to Maddi being killed, if the test turned out to be positive.

According to the court papers, on March 29, texts between Maddi and her mom, sister, and friend discuss not feeling well, the possibility of being pregnant and having taken a pregnancy test.

Dozens of unsealed search warrants reveal new information and evidence in the murder.

Holy smokes, it's going to take a bit to digest all this. Thank you, Tippy!

Police then learned that the next day on April 9, Easter Sunday, a neighbor of the Fravel family just north of their property near Mabel captured an image on a trail camera showing Adam Fravel driving a UTV through the property with a shovel in the bed of the Polaris Ranger. The timestamp on the image said 4:51 p.m.

“Fravel was wearing a dark-colored stocking hat, a dark-colored long-sleeved jacket, dark pants and sunglasses. It should be noted that it was warm at the time the picture was taken and the picture from the trail camera has a temperature stamp of 71 degrees,” the search warrant affidavit said.

On April 10, police stopped Fravel while he was driving the UTV and seized it along with the shovel. Investigators brought in two cadaver dogs which both alerted/indicated in the bed of the Polaris Ranger and at the spade of the shovel, according to the search warrant. The document notes that cadaver dogs are “trained to ignore live human scent and animal scent, and only indicate on human remains.”

Investigators determined Fravel’s phone had been wiped and certain tracking applications and location services were disabled after March 30, the day before Maddi disappeared.

“ believe that Fravel went to great lengths to conceal the locations that he visited or traveled after March 30, 2023,” an investigator wrote in the search warrant affidavit.

By the time Winona police conducted the search warrant at Kerry Drive, they noted several areas where the drywall was torn, appearing something attached to the walls had been pulled off. Upon further investigation, police determined “all cameras were ripped down and their SD cards were missing," the warrants said.

When police conducted a search warrant on Fravel’s family’s Fillmore County property on April 7, they found a computer tower and laptop in a dumpster, as well as a burned computer item in one of the fire pits.

Kingsbury and Fravel shared two young children. When she disappeared, Kingsbury and Fravel were in the midst of a breakup, with Kingsbury telling Fravel to move out. The day Kingsbury disappeared was the first time Fravel hadn't spent the night at their shared residence. Kingsbury was also preparing to move to a new place in Winona.

According to the search warrants, Kingsbury had rejected Fravel's plans to move the family from Winona to Mabel, closer to his family. Kingsbury had also begun seeing a man she had met online, a relationship Fravel knew about.

More disturbing, friends told investigators that Fravel had been abusive and controlling. One friend said that Kingsbury told them that "Adam had been beating the hell out of her for years." The friend said Kingsbury warned her: "If anything happens to me, know that Adam did it."

Friends told investigators that Fravel had become abusive after the birth of their second child. Kingsbury had allegedly forced Fravel to go to therapy after a choking incident.

Re 9th & 10th Speculation only, is this alluding to AF taking MK to his parents house? And also still out trying to cover his tracks over a week later? Imo

OMG! I feel for her family. It's one thing to to hear a concern from her but to read from a bunch of friends/family/his families neighbor and Madeline's fear and concerns after the fact. My heart breaks. This guy is cooked. IMO

It sounds more to me like the neighbor's property. ? MOO

The next two paragraphs from the article:

Police then searched the reporting landowner’s 800-acre uninhabited property, and noted that they found an area of fresh dirt that appeared to be transported from elsewhere and dumped there. But investigators did not find Maddi’s body at that time.

Nearly two months later, an investigator discovered her remains four miles north of that spot.

I was thinking along the lines of initially going to the parents home then using the ATV to transport from parents place and on to neighbouring property

Oh, gotcha. Sorry if I'm a bit slow this evening!

All I can think is poor Maddi. :(

And, how is this not First Degree Murder? Why is he charged with Second Degree? Sorry, if we covered this before. I can't remember now. MOO
