'A gruesome, gruesome scene:' St. Charles man charged with killing girlfriend, her 2 children and her mother
ST. CHARLES • Police received a chilling 911 call late Friday night.

In a subdivision off Muegge Road with well-maintained lawns and two-car garages, there was a man with a gun in a house on the 100 block of Whetstone Drive.

On the line, with gunshots audible in the background, was Jane M. Moeckel, 61, who had barricaded herself in a downstairs room with her two grandchildren, Zoe J. Kasten, 8, and Jonathan D. Kasten, 10.

By the time police arrived shortly before midnight, they were all dead. The mother of the two children, Kate Kasten, 39, also was in the house, fatally wounded. She died later at a hospital.

The suspect, Richard Emery, was arrested after 7-hour manhunt:

Children, grandmother among 4 fatally shot in St. Louis area
Police stopped the suspect, identified only as a 46-year-old man, as he tried to drive away from the home just after midnight Saturday, and a short gun battle followed. The suspect then fled on foot, tried unsuccessfully to steal a woman's car, stabbed her and fled again on foot. Her injuries were not life-threatening, authorities said.

The suspect was taken into custody at a convenience store a few miles away at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday. He also was injured, and Wilkison said he remained in a local hospital Saturday.

Oh - I noticed that he is charged with 1st degree murder plus 15 other counts. If someone gets into the court site could you please list the other counts?

TIA! :)
I did a search on the court site, but there were no matches. Some of the articles are mentioning a few of the charges:

Murder charges filed against man accused of killing 4 in overnight St. Charles homicide

St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney Tim Lohmar said investigators did not know the motive for the shootings as of Saturday evening. “We may never know,” Mr Lohmar said during a news conference.

Each of the charges against Emery carries a possible penalty of 30 years to life in prison, Mr Lohmar said, adding that more charges are possible and seeking the death penalty is an option under Missouri law.

“It’s premature for us to make any sort of pronouncement about that right now, but I can tell you this thing looks and smells like a death penalty case,” he said.

Moeckel was close with his daughter and grandchildren, as was his ex-wife, Jane Moeckel, who'd been staying with her daughter at the time of the murders while recovering from hip surgery. He saw the family at least once a week, and the relationship between his daughter and Emery showed no obvious cracks, no visible signs of problems, he told the Post-Dispatch.

In fact, the whole family shared dinner together on Dec. 23 at his daughter's home, Moeckel said, just five days before the murders.

If anything happened between Kasten and Emery in that window of time, it remains a mystery. Police are investigating possible motives, saying Emery was "matter-of-fact" following his arrest on Saturday morning and refused to make a statement about the murders.

Those close to the family describe a couple who hardly ever fought, who were always hugging one another. The children adored Emery, who would often help them with their homework after school, Moeckel said.

"There was never an indication that something like this could happen," Moeckel said. "The kids loved him. The big question is what the heck happened?"

Emery doesn't appear to have a criminal record. Court records show he is twice divorced. He lived with Kasten and her children at the home she owned on Whetstone Drive in St. Charles.

For the next seven hours, terrified neighbors were instructed to barricade themselves inside their homes while police searched for Emery, who later attempted to carjack a woman nearby. Police say he stabbed her at least seven times in the torso, but she survived the incident.

They eventually found Emery, bleeding from gunshot wounds, in the bathroom of the QuikTrip on First Capitol Drive in St. Charles.

"Is the lady OK?" Emery reportedly asked the detectives who'd accompanied him to the hospital, referring to the woman he attempted to carjack. He also told detectives where he'd discarded the knife he used to stab her.

Police said Emery also asked the detectives sitting with him in the trauma room if they were officers he'd shot at. When they said they were not, Emery reportedly asked, "Did I hit any of them?" and apologized for firing at police. He told them where to find the gun, and they recovered both weapons, according to court documents.

He does not appear to have asked about his girlfriend, who died at a hospital, or her children and mother, who were pronounced dead in the home, according to police.
