Two Monroe City men arrested on multiple charges on Aug. 5

Jerry Bill Asbell Jr., -- charges of Kidnapping, Terrorizing 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action

Linkon Rickard -- charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Resisting arrest/detention/stop by fleeing, Property Damage 1st Degree, Possession of a Defaced Firearm and Operate Vehicle on Highway without a valid license

Man accused of assault, fighting officers during arrest in Monroe City


Jerry Asbell, Jr., faces felony charges of second-degree assault, kidnapping, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

...received a call from a female on Wednesday evening who was "not acting right" and then "abruptly" hung up the phone.
... a residence on Charles Street, where a female subject answered the door and then tried closing the door
...made entry because of possible injury to the female who answered the door. ...female had abrasions to her face and was bleeding from her ear.

...she notified them of another subject in the house
...Asbell Jr. came out of a bedroom with his hands up.

...she had brought Asbell Jr. back to her house
...[sic]he demanded he pay her money he alleges she stole from him, chased her with a kitchen knife and struck her face and body multiple times with his fist.

Preliminary investigation has led authorities to believe Asbell and Ellsworth broke into Johnston's home before taking her to a Monroe City cemetery and killing her, according to local outlet KRCG. Asbell allegedly shot Johnston to death at the cemetery early Wednesday and then dumped her body in northeast Pike County, where authorities discovered it over the weekend.
