The body of a 22-year-old woman was found around noon Friday on Church Street in Old Town St. Peters. Amethyst "Ame" Killian was reported missing by her family around 8 PM on Thanksgiving night, telling police she hadn't been home all day.

Family members went looking for her Friday around their home on Main Street and found personal belongings. Police arrived to continue the search and found the body. At this point, the St. Louis Area Major Crimes Unit is offering no information about how she died or what leads them to call it an "apparent homicide." No suspects have been named.

The family says Killian was 5 months pregnant, and had left to do some shopping at a mini mart early Thanksgiving Day.

According to family, Killian was last seen walking to a nearby gas station at around 1 a.m. Thursday. The St. Peters Police Department said her family reported her missing at 8 p.m. after she didn't return home all day.

At noon Friday, officers received a call of a body lying outside on the 100 block of North Church Street, in the woods near where Killian lived with her mother, stepfather, children and boyfriend.

Her personal items had been found in the area, which led to the discovery of her body nearby, police said.

Police did not say how she died but said it was an "apparent homicide."

"Family members found some of Killian’s belongings in the area Friday morning and called police, leading to the discovery of the body." Was she pursued by someone and they pulled items off of her as they tried to grab her? Was rape possibly involved? Also, I find it strange how the body was found so close to the house around noon after Miss Killian was reported to be missing the night before. Was her body dumped during the morning in broad daylight? Because people would have most likely seen her body if she had been lying there over night. Was her body hidden from sight? So many questions, but the authorities released so little information. I hope and pray that the family knows all of the details and that the police aren't keeping it under covers.

Odd that she was “missing” long enough by 8 pm for her family to report it, but then was seen walking to a gas station at 1am. What could possibly have been going on?? Or maybe we’ll hear soon that the 1am sighting is uncertain IMO.

Oh, I took it to mean she was seen at 1am and then by 8pm that same night they realized she hadn't returned.

Why was she visiting the station at 1am alone, while pregnant? I’m sure there’s a reasonable explanation ie; cravings, but where was the bf? MOO
My thoughts exactly. Either she was meeting someone and there was foul play involved, or she got strange cravings and decided to allegedly go alone at night. I certainly do not want to jump to conclusions, but why else would a lady who is pregnant go there unless she was meeting someone?

And honestly it would be nice to know where the entire family was at the time. This did not say that she was alone walking to a gas station. Her bf may have been with her or someone else might have been. I really do not like jumping to conclusions, but she may not have been alone.

"...and had left to do some shopping at a mini mart early Thanksgiving Day." Why would someone go at 1 am to go shopping for thanksgiving day when the food may not even be ready until evening? Why wouldn't she have waited until at least 6 or 7 am to go? This whole thing raises some eyebrows. Also, is there any information on how long she had been dating and engaged to her boyfriend?
