Long said the unit working in the woods this weekend is a specially trained unit from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The unit works in conjunction with the FBI.

The unit has K9's specially trained to find human remains. Long said the purpose of bringing in the experts is to find more remains or any other clues in a case that has baffled his department.

Three Hispanic kids listed in NamUs as having gone missing around the correct timeline for the Child Doe found in Dixon. Luke Carlos may be in the company of his mother, Lolita was possibly seen a with an adult male, didn't find much information on Hector during a brief Google search.

The reconstruction should be fairly accurate. Features like the tip of the nose that are soft tissue would be estimates, but the overall shape of the face, location of features, and so on should be accurate.

The lower jaw was missing, so that is totally artist interpretation. The top teeth indicated no orthodontic work (fillings, etc)

Yes, if the lower jaw was missing, that would involve some ambiguity; I didn't see where it said either way. There are certain characteristics that can be inferred from the musculature at the back of the head, wear or lack of it on the teeth, the jaw joint, etc. but you're right, the lower face wouldn't be as accurate.

Recent testing shows the child died between 1967 and 1972, earlier than previously believed. Gender has still not been determined. Currently, estimated age at death is 10-12.

Just want to add another article and hoping all of us can help figure out who this child was before they close the case...although not sure what that would mean? Glad to find this thread...not very experienced at this but saw this article and really hoping!!

1967 and 1972 is quite a while ago! Couldn't find any Hispanic children in this time frame. Could be the ethnicity is someone with an admixture ancestors and listed as white on their missing case file. My cousins mother was white/native, and my step-siblings father was Colombian; however, all these people look Caucasian and I wonder if their skulls would show differently than their skin if they were examined. (Not to sound morbid!)

Pulaski County is only 3 hours from Hannibal, where the boys were last seen.

If this was an the child of illegal immigrants they could have not been reported missing unfortunately. We saw this happen in Anjelica Castro's (AKA Baby Hope) case where her parents were illegal immigrants and a relative was responsible for her death.

I looked at all Hispanic/Native MPs in NamUs between 1967 and 1972 and found two possibilities, although one is younger than the estimated age range and one is older. They're both from the West Coast.

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) Mary Lozano, age 4, missing from Venice, CA in 1969. Very little info on the circumstances.
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) Janice Hannigan, age 15, missing from Wapato, WA in 1971 and possibly a runaway.

I feel like Janice is more likely since her age is closer to the estimate for the UID's, but they're both longshots imo.

Expanding the search for all kids missing between '67 and '72, regardless of race, and got a few more possibilities:

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) Judith Elwell, 4, from OK. Age is off but she would be in the age range if she died closer to 1972.

1968:
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) Bob Boyes, 9, from MD
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) Sammy Jackson, 13, from CA. He's listed as white but seems to have a dark complexion so I wouldn't be surprised if he had some Hispanic and/or Native ancestry. He went missing with another boy, Alfred Grimes, who is one year out of the age range for the UID (The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs))

1969:
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) Wendy Stevenson, 8, from FL. Went missing with Peggy Rahn, 9 (The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs))

1970:

Bumping, I wonder why there aren't any ruleouts in NamUs? Genetic genealogy might be what's needed to solve this case.
