Emily Strite, 33, was last seen April 2 in Imperial. According to officials, she was last wearing jeans and a dark blue hoodie. She was reported missing April 20.

According to a release, detectives have followed multiple leads and are now asking for the assistance of the public.

Interesting that one of her charges is operating a motor vehicle on a highway without a valid license. Why did she not have a valid license or why was it not valid to drive on the highway?

If you look at the statue, the language is fairly generic.
" it shall be unlawful for any person, except those expressly exempted by section 302.080, to operate any vehicle upon any highway in this state unless the person has a valid license"
302.020.

As to why the license was suspended? I found her name in an article for the police blotter posted in the Bellevue (IL) News Democrat (paid subscription so not linking) and found a FB page for her listing her as living in Bellevue. Log into Facebook So I started checking county court records in that area and she has quite an extensive history of felony and non felony arrests in St. Clair County (the most recent Feb. of 2024) some of which could result in the loss of driving privileges.

DWI (multiple), Battery (multiple) threatening a public official, resisting arrest, domestic battery, violation an order of protection, criminal mischief, possession of controlled substance, and more going back to 2009 (consumption of alcohol by a minor). “Emily was in and out of an abusive relationship for most of her adult life with her younger three children’s father.”

Jess mentioned that her sister was not actively in a relationship with the father of her children at the time she went missing, but she was in contact with him. The father of three of Emily’s children lives in Illinois. At the time of her disappearance, Emily was staying around De Soto.

If she has a history of substance abuse and left on foot, I'm concerned she's not far from where she was last seen. De Soto is rural, hilly, and parts are heavily wooded. A body could easily be missed out there.

Remains of Missouri woman Emily Strite located 5 months after mysterious disappearance

The 33-year-old was reported missing on April 20, 2024. Her body was located on September 28.

On October 1, after five months of searching, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office made an announcement. “On September 28th, Deputies responded to a wooded area near the 4100 block of Frissell Road in De Soto for a report of human skeletal remains found by the property owner,” the statement said. “Through comparison to medical and dental records, investigators with the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the remains are those of Emily Strite.”

The statement from the sheriff’s office said Emily’s “cause of death is undetermined, and investigators are working to learn how her body ended up where it was found.” In response to Dateline, Officer Bissell stated there are “no suspects or persons of interest in [Emily’s] disappearance because there is nothing at this time to indicate foul play or that a crime was committed.”

Emily’s friends and family remain desperate for answers. And while, originally, they wanted to find her, they now want to find out what happened to her.
 
At this time, Strite's cause of death is undetermined, and investigators are working to learn how her body ended up where it was found,” the police release on Oct. 1 stated.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Public Safety Information Coordinator Grant Bissell told PEOPLE in a statement that "there is no indication of foul play in either her disappearance or her death. So, without a crime, there can’t be a suspect."
