This thread is about the protests. And the protests are clearly about racism? Do you not agree?

I think the protests are about ignorance, violence, having to register and insure a car, having to have a driver's license, and most of all, having to obey the law like everyone else in these United States. Aside from that, they seem to have a lot more "perks" than the rest of us.

And you were right in another post about anger begetting anger. Well, I'm enraged. But this is a good thing - America is seeing it with their own eyes and waking up.

My opinion only

The problem is Linda7NJ, that they don't feel this freedom you speak of. Again, right or wrong they really do feel that way.

I get that.

I DO NOT CARE.

They and by they I mean...these particular aggressive, looting, Molotov cocktail & urine bomb throwing criminals, who are nothing but ignorant, disrespectful and threatening are a menace to any decent society.

Any supporters of means to actually help them..dropped like flies.

Yes I know. I find it highly unlikely that MB was shot out of hate or racism. I did not say that. But the protests are about racism.

And yet, they're still calling for OW's death. Using little girls with bullhorns to do so.

That's hate. That's racism. That does not deserve compassion.

Not a single speck will they get from any decent citizen. IMO

I am just saying that that behaviour will not change without compassion. So you can carry on having zero compassion but IMO it is that thought process coming from both sides that helping to carry on this conflict.

And when I say conflict I don't mean Ferguson. It's not just the people of Ferguson who are angry. The protesters are using this particular incident to voice their frustrations, it doesn't matter if MIke Brown deserved to be shot or not. The anger isn't about that... It is about a distrust towards LE. Whether justified or not it is real, they really do feel it.

Then they are going about it ALL WRONG. I had compassion initially, when my daughter, who is half black, came to me and told me about this black teen who was executed by a cop in Ferguson, MO. But now, weeks later, I have ZERO COMPASSION for the way these protestors are behaving. ZERO.

The complaints are silly too, imo. Who does like getting tickets for not registering cars and not having insurance. Nobody likes it. But that doesn't make the cops racist for insisting on it. And I 'got a warrant cuz i didnt have a babysitter' is a silly excuse. Find one or get an extension. You don't ignore it until it goes to warrant and then pull the race card. My kids are mixed race and I know plenty about racial politics. And imo these people are nothing but BULLIES!

This question wasn't directed at me, but what the heck, I'll take a stab at it.

No.

The "protesters" are calling for OW's death. These are not protests against racism. This is virulent hatred.

So you are angry too? Don't you see how that back and forth will never change anything? That attitude of not caring is what is going to perpetuate this cycle. It will never end that way. It will probably just get worse. You do not want to live in that society, trust me, Because you can forget about that freedom you are trying to preserve.

There's a bunch of losers in this country and they come in every single shade ...losers, low life's, criminals, liars and the lazy mentality to blame their situation on others.

This group ....The ultimate in refusing to be accountable for their own actions and inactions.
No one ever stopped them voting, attending meetings, or becoming police officers. They ignorance and hate did that.

I agree, many of them are going about it all wrong.

They say they want more black cops, and we saw today EXACTLY how they treat the black officers. Taunting, cussing, calling them 'house nig-garz'--calling them race betrayers. So how can we believe they really want more black cops?

It is never wise or helpful to make excuses for bad behavior. It just encourages more and teaches people not to worry about personal responsibility.

Refusal to use reason and clear thinking, and substituting it with irrational, emotional impulses is at the core of all these problems we are facing.

Listening to our hearts as an advisory role is good. But the executive, decision making processes rely on using our brains.

There have been multiple reports that Officer Wilson was injured that we're able to consider, including from Daryl Parks, one of the family's three attorneys.

It's inaccurate to say there have been no "on the record' statements from LE citing Wilson having visible injuries.

"The genesis of this was a physical confrontation," Belmar said, adding that Ferguson police asked his office to investigate the case.

Without revealing what led to the dispute, Belmar said the preliminary investigation showed that the Ferguson officer tried to exit his vehicle, but Brown pushed him back into the car, "where he physically assaulted the police officer" and struggled over the officer's weapon, Belmar said.

The officer was taken to an area hospital where he was treated for a "swollen face," Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson said, adding he had not personally seen the officer's injury.

The officer who shot Brown was injured in the confrontation and the “side of his face was swollen,” Jackson said. The officer was treated at a hospital, the chief said, and he was “very shaken.”

Jackson, who spoke on the phone with News 4's Laura Hettiger Wednesday morning, said the officer "was hit" and the "side of his face was swollen."

Obviously, those that are chanting and calling for OW's death are in the wrong and outright idiots. But yes, I believe the protests since day 1 have been about racism. The initial reaction to this incident was the tipping point, but it is not where their anger comes from.

Change starts from the inside. They need to help each other and themselves.
Every other "group" has done that.

That's why on the east coast there are still huge areas like China Town, GermanTown, . South Philly huge italian population, Upper Darby huge Greek population ect. People who can't even speak English when they get here are helped by those that came before them ....help each other assimilate.

IMO these are entitled ignoramuses who are demanding black business owners, black police officers, black city counsel...yet haven't done a damn thing toward that end.

It's everyone else's fault!

It would be LAUGHABLE ...if it weren't so pathetic.

All IMO

Yes I know. I find it highly unlikely that MB was shot out of hate or racism. I did not say that. But the protests are about racism. It is about a community of people who truly believe (whether they are right or not) that they are discriminated against.

AND THAT is the question. Are they truly discriminated against? At the start of this, I thought they probably were. But now, after seeing their attitudes, the vitriol and hatred, I dont think they were discriminated against. NOW I fully understand why a young black male would be frisked before an Asian or white male might be. Or why their car would be searched for weapons. Now I feel sympathy for the FPD, and fully support any searches, arrests or force they felt was necessary. THAT is what these protests and city council speeches accomplished.

They need mirrors.

To take a long hard look
At themselves.

Respectfully but strongly disagree. It is our brains that screw us up. If we could all listen to our hearts, all 7 billion of us would be happy and content.
