What would you call it, SStarr, not being sarcastic, I just see the guy's foot coming off the floor and being short myself I think 'what would have caused that to happen' and throat grab is what I come up with. Thanks! :)

Maybe just call it assault?

Just getting here. :seeya: I had the never ending doctor appt. thingy today. Anyway, can someone please give me a synopsis of today's events?? I've got lots of catching up to do. :)

Some of the officers killed in the line of duty so far this year.

67 line of duty deaths this year.

compiled from odmp.org

Thank you for posting this, Yoda.

I was looking up stats on the number of officers killed in the line of duty and found this site the other day:

http://www.nleomf.org/facts/enforcement/

•A total of 1,501 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty during the past 10 years, an average of one death every 58 hours or 150 per year. There were 100 law enforcement officers killed in 2013.

There's lots more info at the site. Well worth reading.

I think a lot of folks don't give a second thought to the service law enforcement provides. I know I didn't - until the terrifying night when my adult daughter was kidnapped and almost murdered by her ex. It's a long story, so I won't go into all the details here. The police rescued her moments before she was dragged to the woods where her ex told her was going to kill her. If not for LE's quick action, my daughter would not be alive today. Half the police force in my daughter's town were out looking for her when the 911 calls came in.

That night was a turning point for me and for our entire family. We have nothing but eternal gratitude and utmost respect for law enforcement.

I'm beyond sick and tired of folks who have an obvious axe to grind or who have a chip on their shoulders - those who use the rare corrupt cop as an excuse to denigrate law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every single day.

100 law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty in 2013. 100.

That's a staggering number. My heart goes out to their loved ones and to the communities they served.

Whoa! That is 3 months after??? :thud:

Yep, that's when he could open his eye and all the blood was gone from the white part of the eyeball.
I wish I could post the whole pic...( it's from 8 years ago) so you could see the difference still, three months later, in even the shape of the eyes. Looking at them both.

I'm gonna search for the early photos. Be back in a few... I knew I should have taken the time to organize photobucket stuff...(mad at myself)

Not necessarily, some just don't post or quit thanking those they agree with due to the mob mentality. I have received a few pms of thanks from posters not thanking or posting, afraid to raise the ire of the group. Sometimes it is difficult to speak out when you feel you are treated like the fringe minority. I don't even know what to think, because Wilson has not even been charged. So, I don't feel like he needs to be defended against an overzealous pro-guilt crowd, which is weird for me, because I usually argue for the defense.

However, I feel like a few posters are making some valid points questioning the handling of this case and Ferguson Police Department's handling of it, specifically. Some other posters question critically anything that shines doubt on the LE but are credulous of anything that makes LE's version seem believable. For example, lawyer X discredits someone we don't like, when the poster has no idea who lawyer X. If you google, lawyer X you find out he is a shyster, has ethical charges, or may have a conflict of interest.

I think one should be skeptical of everything at this point.

These cases to often become arguments and sides seemed to be formed. Life is not binary, so why should investigations be?

Next time they thank you in private, can you ask them to come back and answer the questions that have been asked? Please?

He was picked up, laid on a picnic table and punched in the face by a much older child.

Linda~

Thanks for post I didn't realize I said bad white and good white meant bad white and good black in my awkward way to say what you said concisely Zero about Race.

Thanks! I corrected my post.

Little rusty on posts haven't been on since CKJA days ;)

you must not have been paying much attention to the endless criticism he faces by those who insist he investigates too much.

this thread is amazing.

the only folks who are making it clear that justice has ONE look and only one, are those who insist that wilson was justified. it's entirely ridiculous.

my brother, a white cop, was shot in the line of duty by an 18 yo black kid. my brother fired back and the kid was killed. do not blast me as unknowing or whatever else for finally stating what needed to be said here.

i've never, ever seen a group of people insist so damn hard that a town of 23,000 people in US cannot possibly be home to corrupt police, and cops who kill when killing is unwarranted. are we now denying that this country used to hang black people on trees, too?

MOO

:waitasec: Did I miss something?

Endless criticism who faces? Who investigates too much?

A tactical team for an unarmed suspect? Really? Chalk it up to living in Arizona, the only time AZ LE calls in tactical on a suspect is when the suspect is known to be armed and dangerous, and/or has shot off a few rounds.
Assault a police officer and I will bet money a Tactical team will be deployed, even in Arizona where the police tactical team killed a homeless man living in rock in the hills!

RE:
I think with this case they would have to bring it before the GJ b/c of how it's played out so far, even if Wilson is innocent. Way to many hands in the cookie jar from the start.

If I understand it all correctly I am sorry to say that the Grand Jury is meaningless. They can pursue this no matter what the GJ does, and we have to be honest, in this case they will have no choice - so on and on it will go.

IMO, important to remain cognizant of the reality that the disenfrachised interactions with LE and the legel system is , as a result of lack of resources, altered.

Those without resources, typically, are arrested, go to court plea guilty and serve time.

My thought here is, in such a huge mess, most folks are going to end up inflammed as this goes on for years, becasue from their worldview, it is a stall by the system not to incarcerate him. .

And if think about very concrete "demands" for just that have been made over and over.

They are going to think the system is just messing around casue cop is white -IMO

Reports say there are now a dozen witnesses that confirm Wilson's story. Maybe that is why they are thinking the GJ won't be done until October??? To hope things calm down in 2 months and by October the weather will be colder to discourage long term riots as well if they don't indict?

I seriously hope that they are eye witnesses, and they MAY be, because there was backed-up traffic (one of the cars was reportedly according to Dorian, where Dorian hid as MB kept running) People in those cars would have seen the altercation. If the 12 witnesses are all friends, relations or co-workers of Wilson, they did not witness the incident and are only repeating what Darren Wilson told THEM. I hope these are independent witnesses. If so, lots of light will be shed on this incident. JMO

I appreciate you posting a link that possibly discredits someone who questions Parcells qualifications.

However, this article

http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/...cle_0662e5b1-dcfa-578f-9487-8ab6a176ea4d.html

Provides dozens of statements by others in the ME and DA communities that tell a different story. What makes it highly relevant, compelling and damning is that none hide behind anonymity. Each account is recounted using the persons name, rank and serial number.

He's misrepresenting himself big time, and I can only assume he was hired by crump and parks, Baden may likely End up mighty pissed when he realizes who exactly "assisted" him in this investigation.

Seems a bit disingenous then not to thank my post.:)

The padded resume seems troubling, but I don't know much about websites like LinkedIn. The other criticisms may be valid as well, I am not familiar enough with best M.E. practices to discern competently.

However, this reminds me of when nurses and nurse practitioners were taking over duties that doctors used to perform. The AMA and doctors tried to discredit them for years until at some point they made the political decision to let it go. The medical profession is run like a guild, and any change in the pie will be characterized as dangerous or unprofessional by the status quo.

They may not have a bias in this specific case but they do have a monetary incentive to spread doubt on Parcell's work, because it cuts into their bottom line or in the case of Friedlander obscures his own misconduct.

On the way to the health club today I heard on ABC news, McCulluch will introduce the tape of the unknown witness that said MB rushed the officer.
The GJ should here that, a trial jury would here it!

Our family had to buy the bullet proof vest for our loved one. They are not simply handed out as mandatory equipment.

My sons job requires a bullet proof vest, but he has to buy it himself. [ or should I say, WE have to. ]

Yep, didn't require any intervention at all.
I was scared to death!

He didn't even cry, not once, until we got home and he looked in the mirror. He just wanted assurance it would get better. He was terrified it would always look like that.

After he was assured he would be fine....He thought it was the coolest thing ever...boys...eyeroll...

LOL I had a horrid shiner from a car accident in high school. I ran in the house and told mom "help" I've been in an accident....and then proceeded immediately to the bath tub to wash the blood out of my new "white levi's." I wore sunglasses for about a month so no one would see how ugly it was... Good ole high school values. I'm so glad I'm a senior! JMO

Respectfully, that is not all we know. IMO we know:

He had a tendency to lunge at people - saw it wiht our own eyes.

We know he has criminal thinking patterns.

We know from their attorney that there was a serious altercation around an officers vehicle.

We know from the autopopsy that the endless reports, for days, from allledged witnesses, wholeheariliy and enduingly reported that the officer was blasting the kid in the back wiht bullets. We know for a fact that is just not the case.

We know that the radio call, has more credibility (officer was being lunged by 300 lb angry human being) based solely on the autopsy , which just by assoication gives the rest of her account more credibility overall (ie lunged on video vs mauled in back with a barrage of gunfire) .

IN that context, which reports overall tend to be more beleivable
IMO

I don't know all the facts. No one does. same themes
So at this time all we can all do is , at this time, go with what thus far is out there and appears logical and in some alignment with hard core facts know thus far
