Authorities investigating shooting death near Koshkonong | Free | westplainsdailyquill.net
  1. The HCSO is investigating the shooting death of a Brandsville man at a home on County Road 9290 near Koshkonong.
  2. Jesse Lee Branstetter, 30, was reportedly dead from apparent gunshot injuries when deputies were called to the scene Dec. 22.
  3. Shortly after, a man arrived at an area hospital by private vehicle with gunshot wounds, who was connected to the same incident near Koshkonong, according to scanner audio.
  4. Investigators described the second shooting victim, whose name is not being disclosed to the public at the time of this writing, as being in critical but stable condition.
  5. At about 10 p.m. Dec. 22, a third party called in the shooting incident and named Branstetter as a possible victim, according to scanner traffic, and first responders and deputies were dispatched.
  6. About 30 minutes later, Howell County deputies confirmed to dispatch they had arrived on scene, and about the same time it was disclosed by dispatch a possible suspect had left the scene, and might have gunshot injuries as well.
  7. 15 minutes later, ambulances and first responders were allowed to leave the scene because the shooting victim was dead, according to scanner traffic.
  8. About an hour after the incident was first called in, the second victim was dropped off at an area hospital stating he had been shot and told staff there were possibly two other gunshot victims.

Howell County, Mo. investigators looking for clues in missing person case, 2 weeks after report (ky3.com)

Lt. Thompson says Briscoe was last seen near his home in rural Howell County, the Lanton area. His house is now boarded up. Detectives have been following multiple leads, but so far no sign of the 25-year-old.

Briscoe’s parents reported him missing on December 23, although they had not heard from him since Dec. 17. That is uncommon for the family.

[...]

One week after the report was made, detectives thought they had a major break in the case. They found Briscoe’s car. It was at a scrap yard.

“The problem is there’s some debate about whether it’s even his car or not anymore. He may have given it to someone else, so it doesn’t offer us any evidentiary value whatsoever,” Thompson said.

The day before Briscoe went missing, two people exchanged gunfire inside a house in nearby Koshkonong. Both of them know Briscoe, which gave investigators reason to possibly think there could be a connection.

“Yes, Ira Briscoe is an associate of both individuals that were involved in that shooting.”

Ira and the vehicle he was known to be driving were reported missing “under suspicious circumstances” the day after a shooting near his home resulted in the death of Brandsville resident Jesse Branstetter, and the Howell County Sheriff's Department has asked for the public's help in the investigation of both cases.

Ira Briscoe’s family urges hunters, hikers to keep an eye out for clues to his whereabouts

Snipped

They are asking turkey hunters and others out walking trails or in remote areas looking for mushrooms for help in finding any clue leading to Ira’s location, or the location of his remains. A reward of $1,000 has been set up by the family...[snip] Anything found that seems out of place or unusual, whether it is clothing, bones or other remains, should be left untouched and undisturbed, and reported to law enforcement with details regarding the location. [snip]
Officials with the Howell County Sheriff's Department caution the public that bones or other remains might have become scattered, and even if they don't appear to be human, the agency will contact forensics specialists that can distinguish human remains from those of animals. [snip] The search so far has focused on an area within about a 5 mile radius of Briscoe's home, off of Highway 142 in southern Howell County. The area encompasses Lanton, Fulton County in northern Arkansas and Koshkonong.

This case gets more & more twisted as time goes by.

Is it possible Branstetter died with all the answers to this mystery? What provoked the shootout w/ the the unnamed gunshot survivor? What does the surviving gunshot victim have to say about Ira & Limon's disappearance? I'm really curious about Ira's car, though. Why would Ira "give" his car to anyone? I would think he'd need his wheels to get around in the rural areas where he lived. Who had the vehicle scrapped and why?

I wish they'd figure this all out for Ira's mom's sake, most especially. :(

Howell County, Mo. investigators look at new leads in missing person case

SBM
  • not only have they had few leads, but Briscoe’s roommate is also missing.
  • Limon Little, was last seen December 17, 2020
  • Marilyn doesn’t think it’s a coincidence - “If something was to happen to my son, I don’t know this for sure, but I feel like Limon would step in and try to help protect my son,”
From the embedded video-(interview w/ Ira's mom & lead investigator Lt. Torey Thompson)
  • Ira helped care for Little, who is a disabled vet
  • LE gets about one call/lead weekly
  • please call w/ tips - any tip could help break the case

I'm confused, does LE think he is a victim or that he's one of the shooters?
According to the reports, the two shooting victims were involved in a shootout with one another. It seems both knew Ira. At this point that's the only information LE has released regarding Ira's connection to the two or the incident. Limon Little was Ira's roommate, but the reports don't state whether he was an associate of the two gunshot victims. My guess is that all four people must have been associated, or at least known of each other. MOO

This is such awesome news. It's starting to make so much sense to me now why Ira's mom keeps insisting that lots of people know what happened to Ira, but no one is talking. Hopefully these arrests will loosen lips and soften some hearts. TY for the update, @PommyMommy!

@Tiff23fr, TYVM for your assistance.
