COLUMBIA - A Columbia woman is seeking the public’s help to find her missing husband, Jason Washington. He has been missing since Oct. 15.

“We talked at 9:30 that morning,” Tamitra Williams, Washington’s wife, said. “He said he wasn’t feeling good.”

Williams said Washington had a minor seizure that morning, which was not unfamiliar to him. She said her husband planned to drop their children off at their older sibling’s house if he continued to feel unwell.

“When he took them down there around 1:30, he had a second seizure,” Williams said. “My son was trying to call his name, and he kept checking, but Jason wasn’t responding to him.”

Williams said Washington started having seizures over the summer. She said he was taking medication for the seizures because they impacted Washington’s memory. “He had a seizure in July,” Williams said. “He thought he had spoken to his [deceased] mother, and he didn’t remember that he has eight children.” She said Washington had a similar experience in mid-October. “When he came up out the seizure, he didn’t know who my son was,” Williams said. “He didn’t know who he was, so he left.”

This doesn't sound good for Jason. :( I hope they're checking any/all the abandoned buildings and homes in the area.

The family was already dealing with the disappearance of Jason Washington, the father of Jyneisha and grandfather of Ta'niyah. He has been missing since Oct. 15.

“This is not easy,” Tamitra Williams said. “It started as their father was missing. Now, it’s their father missing, our daughter is gone, and my grandbaby is gone.”
This is just too much for a family to bear! A fire this morning took the life of one of the daughters and a granddaughter of this missing man. :( This is too tragic.

Columbia Fire Department responds to residential structure fire in the 1000 block of Claudell Lane

(COLUMBIA, MO) - On Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 1:27 a.m., the Columbia Fire Department was called to respond to the 1000 block of Claudell Lane for a reported residential structure fire. Fire crews received multiple reports of a fire in a residential building with people trapped inside.

The first fire crew arrived 4 1/2 minutes later and observed visible fire venting from multiple windows of a two-story townhome. The crew deployed a preconnected hose line and initiated a rapid sequence of attacking the fire and searching for trapped occupants.

As additional personnel and equipment arrived, they were assigned to enhance both the search and rescue and fire attack operations. These additional crews initiated searches in the apartments adjacent to the affected residence and established a water supply from a nearby fire hydrant.

During interior operations, crews located two deceased children inside the structure. Twenty other occupants (including 10 who had been inside the impacted unit) were able to safely exit the building. Three children were transported to a local hospital for evaluation; their condition is not known at the time of this release.

"Despite valiant efforts by members of the Columbia Fire and Police Departments as well as EMS and emergency communications partners, families in our community have been devastated by the unimaginable loss of two precious lives in this early morning fire. Please keep these families in your thoughts," said Columbia Fire Chief Clayton Farr Jr.

The fire was brought under control in approximately 25 minutes.

Columbia fire marshals were called to the scene to perform an origin and cause investigation. The fire originated on the second floor of the residence and the cause remains under investigation. Damages are estimated at $80,000.

Thirteen crews from the Columbia Fire Department, five advanced life support EMS crews from both Boone Hospital Center and University Hospital Center as well as several officers with the Columbia Police Department responded to this incident.

The Columbia Fire Department reminds residents that smoke alarms save lives. Smoke alarms should be placed on every level of your home and outside of places where people sleep. Check your smoke alarms monthly by pressing the test button. Change your smoke alarm batteries at least twice per year when adjusting your clocks for Daylight Saving Time. Replace any smoke alarm over 10 years old.

Details of Disappearance

Washington was last seen in Columbia, Missouri on October 15, 2022. That morning he had a minor seizure. He spoke to his wife at 9:30 a.m. and said he was going to drop their children off at a relative's house if he continued to feel sick. He did subsequently do this. At 1:30 p.m., he had another seizure and when he regained awareness, he no longer recognized his stepson.

Following the second seizure, Washington got up and walked out of his residence at Columbia Square Apartments. He was last seen walking near West Middle School on Clinkscales Road. A photo of him at that location is posted with this case summary. He has never been heard from again.

Washington had moved to Columbia in early October the year he disappeared, in order to get a better education for his eight children, the youngest of whom was two years old at the time. He had previously spent his entire life in the St. Louis, Missouri area. In December 2022, his seven-year-old daughter and four-year-old granddaughter were killed in a fire at Columbia Square Apartments which also displaced his family.
Washington's case remains unsolved.

Source Information

Jason Washington's body was found on June 7, according to his wife, Tamitra Williams. She announced it on the Bring Jason Washington Home Facebook page, which she created to source tips to find him.

She said that when she heard he'd been found, at first she was overjoyed, not immediately understanding that he hadn't been found alive.

“He had seizures — that is why I thought he could be inside a hospital, because his memory could be lost," Williams said. "So I assumed he could be in the hospital under John Doe just waiting to be found.”

Police confirmed Wednesday that Washington's body had been found after a medical examiner identified his remains.

"Police confirmed Wednesday that Washington's body had been found after a medical examiner identified his remains. Williams said Washington's body was found in the same block on Worley Street that West Middle School is on, which where he was last seen on Oct. 15, 2022, before he went missing."

It sounds like no one even searched for him. wth?
