To the right where it says Police: Body Found In Belton Is Woman is a video.

BELTON, Mo. -- Police said Saturday that the body found along a back road in Belton on Friday is a woman.

The body was badly decomposed, so investigators still don’t know the age or race of the victim. Police said they expect to know more details about the person later this weekend.........

Investigators will use dental records to check whether the remains are Kara Kopetsky, a Belton teenager who has been missing since May. She was last seen at Belton High School on May 4.

BELTON, Mo. -- Police said Saturday that the body found along a back road in Belton on Friday is a woman.
The body was badly decomposed, so investigators still don’t know the age or race of the victim. Police said they expect to know more details about the person later this weekend.
Workers with the Missouri Department of Transportation found the body at the base of a power pole near Highway 71 and 163rd Street, which is a dead-end road. The body was hidden in some tall weeds.

Dell have you heard anything on news? Will you please report if you do?

Indy,

I have been here for a bit. Health is not good so can't be on computer long. Also, daughter first homecoming is today at SMW so kinda hectic around here.

I've missed you guys!

I have a bad feeling about this body, especially with the description of the location that Armandv just posted.

Thoughts & Prayers......

A Jackson County medical examiner has determined that the body found Friday afternoon in Belton by highway survey crews is that of a female, authorities said late this morning.
Detective Sgt. Brad Swanson of the Belton Police Department said that the medical examiner has not yet been able to determine the age, nationality or cause of death of the person.
Authorities hope to know later today whether the body is that of Kara Kopetsky, who disappeared the morning of May 4 after leaving Belton High School near where the body was found.
A crew surveying for the Missouri Department of Transportation found the body about 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon in thick brush near Route Y and U.S. 71.
The department knows of only one other missing girl — one in her mid-teens who ran away two weeks ago. Swanson said the body that was found was not her.
Kara’s father, Mike Kopetsky, stood outside the Belton police station this afternoon as the media was briefed on the case. He said he expects to the wait out the rest of the afternoon with family.
“We are all going to sit around together and comfort each other today,” Kopetsky said. “Hopefully we will get the answers soon enough. I’m sure it will be hard waiting for them.”
He was wearing a white T-shirt with a picture of his daughter.

I am soooo SICK and I don't wanna go lay down in case I might miss something :blushing: I am so afraid to see who they identify the body as being. If it's not Kara then it's just some other family going to get some very sad news today...I can't even imagine how horrific that would be.

I google mapped the path from Belton HS to where we can only guestimate the body was found as I haven't find any dead end road at Highway 71 and near Highway Y yet. Did we ever figure out exactly where or what direction Kara's house was from the HS?

I know I sound very calloused in bringing up all this about the stepfather, but I am quite angry now. I suppose I want to lash out at him because I feel he is in some way responsible for her disappearance and if this is Kara...I want him to be the first one LE looks at seriously. I am deeply saddened by this development and instead of wringing my hands here, I want this to come to a quick conclusion.

I take it this is where the body was found. That is exactly where I put it on the map. I do see one deadend which ends up in a wooded area southwest of Highway 71.

Now, where is her house?

The general location map that was posted last night shows how close it is to where they found Kelsey Smith. We had Edwin Hall in our sights for this one awhile ago and the manner in which this body has been found is similar imo to how Kelsey was disposed of. I'd be looking at the ex-BF before the step father first in this case if it is Kara with the location so close to the school. Where there ever any real searches done for her? It doesn't seem like it unless the body came to be there later.

It makes perfect sense to me, Greeneyz! I have often thought this is the reason they hedged on doing searches at all. They raise money, but never seem to be looking for Kara. The searches that have been done haven't been set up by the mother and stepfather, but by concerned friends and other relatives.

And that is why I quit following this thread months ago. It appeared to me that getting the parents involved was like pulling teeth. It was frustrating. It was like they did the expected yeah, we want to find our daughter appearances. But nothing beyond that. Kara's friends however, really want to find her.

I have an address for a James Beckford in Belton Missouri. Is this her stepfather and who she lived with?
