I just saw a story on the news here about a toddler who was missing for 2 days. The mother and grandmother thought the boy was with the aunt down the street, and vice versa. The boy was found wandering the street by himself. He's not even old enough to talk yet.

And the mom didn't even bother to check with the aunt as to "how is he doing" or "should I pick him up" etc.! How does a mom not care or want to be with their toddler for 2 whole days??? Unreal! :maddening:

I feel like in every case, people have brought up the possibility that the parents staged the disappearance in order to garner sympathy, fame, media attention, and money. However, how many cases can we name where that actually happened? I'm sure there have been cases where a parent killed their child, and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of media coverage it got, but I can't think of too many cases where the abduction was a complete hoax. The only ones that come to mind are Balloon Boy and the girl in the UK who was kidnapped around the time Maddie McCann was.

There was a case in the KC area a few years ago where parents feigned their babies had cancer in order to get contributions. I don't remember the details of the case and whether or not the babies even existed.

Desperate people do desperate things to make money and there always seems to a first time for everything.

NO. there are records of the actual text.

When my teen daughter lost her phone at a party we thought it might have been stolen. She lost it on a friday night. On Saturday we went to the Sprint store and told the clerk. He looked her number up on the computer right there and read off to us, word for word, her most recent texts. I was really surprised they had that info right at hand. But I was told that they do not have the texts saved for very long. Only a week or so I believe.

Thanks for the info Katydid. It seems as simple as the service provider looking up the info before a warrant can go out for the records.

Casey Anthony...for one.

OK, common law marriage is not recognized in Missouri. But I still think Mom might want to leave Dad and for him to not see the Baby.

The 2:30am call was supposedly a 2:30 text to Debbie's brother saying "I'm ready when you are." Could be a wild rumor. I can't see how that could even be known by LE at this point if the cell phones are actually still missing. Records would show a text went out but, not the actual message. Right?

Possibly wrong. Most companies save texts for at least a short time. And all LE needs is a warrant for cell info. Since the cells were reportedly stolen, that wouldn't be hard to get.

I just looked at the floor plan that was provided, thanks for posting it!!

So there was no bathroom upstairs? Do we know the dimensions of Lisa's room? Did it used to be a closet?

eta: it was listed as 4 bd 2.5 ba, so there is 1 bd in the basement & 2.5 baths down there?

This was not an accurate depiction of their house (IMO). If that little rectangle in the living room was supposed to be the stairs, then it would be right smack in the middle of the garage making it totally useless all by itself.

Thank you. I tend to think Fox sensationalizes quite a bit sometimes and since they are the only ones who carried it and it is ascribed to an "unnamed source close to LE" - I think I will hold off on factoring that into my theories on this case. At least until it is substantiated in some way.

Thanks to all who answered my question. I feel so lost and I've only been away for 8 hours
When the police spokesman on Fox was asked about the call he neither denied or confirmed it.:waitasec:

According to the Fox 4 News at 6, the reporter indicated that Debbie wanted the public to know that there WAS a baby monitor in Lisa's room and it WAS on, but she still didn't hear anything. :waitasec:

Casey Anthony...for one.

I was thinking more of a parent that hides the alive child somewhere, and then goes crying to the media that they were kidnapped. In Casey's case, she killed Caylee, and pretended she didn't know where the body was, which is true in many cases.

I was just throwing the staged kidnapping thing out there,I am just as confused as everyone else, but it seems like the last couple of months with --umm-KCA money seems to get people to talk!! I am sure this couple have heard of that case,I am not saying they did this-but when it comes to news and interviews,,money talks!Again..JMO

Do you know if the Dad has been out of work for awhile or just recently switched jobs??

Dunno. I really couldn't have told you who they were if I was to see them at the store before now other than that they were from this neighborhood if they would not have had the kid with them. It's the kids that always got my attention. They were outside a lot and friendly when we would walk by.

WTH???? I'm really having a hard time with this.

Yes, of course you would, the baby knows it's name by 10 months old. My stomach is in knots - I look at the pictures of this baby and she always looks sick or frightened. I wish I knew more about the other kids - are they from the same dad? They look darker in the pictures.

BBM Why is that significant? We come in all different colors, American Indian here so a light caramel color.

What's there to hear? I had lunch with a bunch of moms earlier and we all agreed that someone could have gently lifted up our babies in the middle of the night and they wouldn't have woken up. That's why you can take a sleeping child in the middle of the night out of the back seat of the car, or off the couch, and move them. The abduction would have been virtually silent, except for the quiet rustling of bed linens. Something you expect to hear during the night.

A meaningless detail. She wouldn't hear anything if Lisa wasn't in the bed.

Did mom know she left the door open? I read that she admitted that she left the door unlocked (I think). If so, why? Was this a habit?

Thanks,

Mel

She forgot...I've also read a small excerpt somewhere---and I don't have a link right now, but I can find one---someone said the gramma was there and didn't lock the door behind her....but, that is definitely not confirmed.
