The McDonald County Sheriff's Office identified a woman found alongside a highway in July. And investigators say they found her three children safe.

Investigators say Jessica McCormack's body was found along Highway 59 near Noel. Her body was lying next to an open suitcase. Investigators put out an Endangered Person Advisory for her three kids after identifying her Thursday afternoon. The kids Siah Casillas, 4, Saidah Noor, 1 and infant Intisar Mahamed had not been seen since July 3. Authorities found them safe in Iowa Thursday night.

After the initial discovery of the body, investigators followed several leads. During the investigation, it was determined McCormack had not been heard from for approximately a month, but authorities were not notified by anyone of any concerns that she was missing. Due to the condition of the body investigators were cautious, not wanting to misidentify her.

The McDonald County Sheriff’s Office has tentatively identified the female found alongside highway 59 between Lanagan and Noel as 25 year old, Jessica McCormack. According to friends, Jessica, has not been seen since around the middle of July, 2019.

After the initial discovery of the body, investigators followed several leads. During the investigation, it was determined that a female from Noel, had not been heard from for approximately a month, but authorities were not notified by anyone of any concerns that she was missing. As the investigation unfolded investigators began gathering information about Jessica to determine if she was the victim. Due to the condition of the body investigators were cautious not wanting to misidentify her. After several days of investigation and a reexamination of the body, we have strong evidence to believe that the body is that of Jessica McCormack. Formal identification will not be complete until dental records and dna samples are confirmed, but do have a dna sample from a family member at this time to compare and trying to get dental comparison xrays at this time also.

Jessica McCormack’s family has been notified of the determination of the investigation. Jessica’s three small children that have not been seen since her disappearance. We are seeking the public’s assistance in trying to locate Jessica’s 3 kids. According to her friends, all 3 kids were last seen with Jessica on or around July 3, 2019. One of the fathers has come forward and filed a missing person endangered child report with our office. Since all this information has come about quickly and we want to encourage anyone with information about Jessica or her 3 kids to come forward and speak with one of our investigators. The kids are 4 year old Siah Casillas, 20 month old Saidah Noor, and 7 month old Intisar Mahamed.

The Sheriff’s Office has entered the kids as missing and possibly endangered into the national system and we are working with the Missouri State Highway Patrol to determine what type of alert is appropriate.

We are also working with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Have they named a suspect, I can't tell because stormchild lead me down the path of Jessica before she was identified, I dug up alot on her man
They said the father of the children who dropped them off with a relative a few days ago is a person of interest.

"Three children linked to a possible homicide investigation in Missouri were safely located in Des Moines [Iowa] on Thursday night. Sgt. Paul Parizek, spokesman for the Des Moines Police Department, said police found a 4-year-old, a 20-month-old and a 7-month-old, the children of Jessica McCormack, 25, who went missing in mid-July.

The children were dropped off by their father at a relative's home in the 6000 block of Creston Ave. a few days prior, Parizek said. That's where they were found by police on Thursday....

Parizek said the father is a person of interest in the case, though no warrants have been issued. There is no indication the father is still in Des Moines, though police are working to confirm this, he said...”

Can't add to previous post anymore, but read the comments on Sheriff's FB page.
There are 685 comments posted... anything that could point to a day/time to look out for? Lots of local rumor going around for sure!
Someone posted a fb page for someone with the same last name as the middle child. Guessing that may be who police are looking at for this?

The officers have shared some of the details of the case with us and I've tried to keep it to myself so I don't get them into trouble and lose my informants. The other girl who has been talking with them just told half a dozen people one detail that I KNOW hadn't been shared with the news. It'll be all over town by this time tomorrow, so I guess I can tell you too.
The reason they haven't released her hair color is because she had been skinned from the shoulders up.
I wonder if this was done to hinder identification or it was kept as a disgusting kind of trophy.

Jeee....stomach contents coming up.....but knowing, seeing things for a while now...I'm ok. That's a very disturbing and sick thing to do.

"SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Edited News Release) – A Noel, Mo. man has been charged in federal court with kidnapping the four-year-old daughter of a woman whose body was discovered in a suitcase last month.

Mahamud Tooxoow Mahamed, 37, a Somali national, was charged in a criminal complaint filed late Tuesday in the U.S. District Court in Springfield, Mo. Mahamed is not in federal custody and is a fugitive from justice.

According to an affidavit filed in support of the federal criminal complaint, the body of Jessica McCormack, of Noel, was discovered on July 29, 2019, near Missouri Highway 59 between Lanagan, Mo., and Noel. The last time McCormack was seen alive, the affidavit says, was when law enforcement officers responded to a call at her home on July 16, 2019. Also present in the residence were Mahamed, who was identified as McCormack’s paramour, and McCormack’s three daughters, identified in court documents as Jane Doe 1 (four years old), Jane Doe 2 (two years old), and Jane Doe 3 (six months old). Jane Doe 2 is Mahamed’s daughter.

McCormack’s children could not be located after her body was discovered and identified. An Amber Alert was issued for McCormack’s three children, who were located at a residence in Des Moines, Iowa, and taken into state custody on Aug. 8, 2019. According to the affidavit, a woman who formerly worked with Mahamed at the Tyson plant in Noel told law enforcement officers that Mahamed arrived at her Des Moines residence with the children on Aug. 5, 2019. She discovered he had left on Aug. 8, 2019, the affidavit says, when she found a note from Mahamed informing her that he could not care for the children.

Investigators confirmed with the father of McCormack’s oldest child that Mahamed did not have his consent to take Jane Doe 1 outside the state of Missouri. The biological father of Jane Doe 3 cannot be positively identified at this time..."

Federal prosecutors charge Noel, Mo. man with kidnapping murder victim's daughter

Still no arrest warrant for murder.

A couple points:
1. I wasn't following the case closely and had assumed that she was living with the father of the youngest child and that he had probably killed her (although some probability that one of the other fathers had killed her due to a custody issue...).
2. The LE visit on July 16 was probably a domestic abuse visit. So her failure to either push for his arrest or immediately out was probably the biggest mistake in her life (besides getting involved with him to begin with).

Authorities positively identify the body of Jessica McCormack

"The investigation continued and we were able to determine what dentists office she had been seen in last several years ago. That then involved getting a release to get those records and sending them to the forensic dentist that took xrays of her teeth after the autopsy. The forensic dentist was not able to say 100% sure because of the decay in the teeth and the amount of time in which had passed since McCormack had last seen a dentist. After talking with family and friends, the investigators determined that McCormack had a tattoo and after a re-examination of the body, it was determined that there was a tattoo on the left wrist and matched that of the information gathered. With those facts we are confident in our identification that the female was that of Jessica McCormack."

Mahamud Tooxoow Mahamed, 39, was charged in an indictment returned on Aug. 20, 2019. The indictment alleges that Mahamed kidnapped his murdered girlfriend’s daughter, a minor victim (identified in court documents as Jane Doe 1) and transported her from Missouri to Iowa.

Mahamed is not facing charges directly related to the murder of his girlfriend, 25-year-old Jessica McCormack. No one has been charged in her death. Authorities ruled homicide after the badly decomposed body of an adult female, was discovered by a bicyclist on July 29, 2019, stuffed in a suitcase, along US-59 between Lanagan, Mo., and Noel.

Mahamed has not been in custody since these charges were filed in August 2019. He has been a fugitive from justice since the indictment, but was recently arrested in Guatemala, expelled from that country, and returned to the United States. His initial court appearance was held this week in the U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Mo. He remains in federal custody pending a detention hearing Monday, Aug. 2, 2021.

According to an affidavit filed, the last time McCormack was seen alive was when law enforcement officers responded to a call at her home, the 200 block of Main in Noel, on July 16, 2019. Also present in the residence were Mahamed, who was identified as McCormack’s boyfriend, and McCormack’s three daughters, identified in court documents as Jane Doe 1 (four years old), Jane Doe 2 (two years old), and Jane Doe 3 (six months old).

Since the indictment Mahamed had been living as a fugitive in Guatemala but has been expelled from the country and returned to the U.S. His initial court appearance was held today in the U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Mo. He remains in federal custody pending a detention hearing on August 2nd, 2021.

Following the discovery of McCormack’s body in a suitcase near Missouri Highway 59 between Lanagan, Mo., and Noel, an amber alert was issued for her missing children. All three were located in Des Moines, Iowa, and taken into state custody on August 8th 2019 with one of the three (Jane Doe 1) later confirmed to be Mahamed’s daughter.

Mahemed, however, did not have consent from the father of McCormack’s oldest child to take Jane Doe 1 outside of Missouri.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ami Harshad Miller. It was investigated by the FBI, the McDonald County, Mo., Sheriff’s Department, and the Des Moines, Iowa, Police Department.

Any update from his federal custody hearing on August 2? I couldn’t see any MSM mention.

As of 8/26/22, Tito's lawyers have submitted a motion for dismissal of the kidnapping charges (the whole case against him), as it has been proven through DNA that he is the father of the children. The motion also states several reasons why they believe the State's indictment is full of holes. According to the original charge, per his lawyer, because he is a parent (father), he cannot be charged with kidnapping his own child. The US submitted motion to squash the dismissal, stating that there is more than enough evidence for a trial where any arguments like the ones brought up by Tito's lawyer can be hashed out; that the court should not dismiss the case, but rather move forward with trial dates. Now we wait for the court to make a ruling on this motion.
