Given the recent identification of Evelyn Colon, I am questioning the accuracy of the isotope testing. They were sooo off with Evelyn, claiming she was from Europe. I feel as though isotope testing should not exclude anyone from this case.

In theory isotopes are supposed to be used as tools for investigation, suggesting new areas to look, not for ruling out anybody.

After coming across this case (Below) of young AA female never identified, I started researching possible murders.
I found a man named Gary Michael Hilton, whose M.O was killing and beheading his victims. He is currently serving 4 life sentences, when arrested for four known murders in his 60's. He implied to the FBI that this wasn't the first time he has done such a thing.

I strongly believe he is connected to this case.
In 1983 when this young victim was found, Gary was in his 30's. Although, this young girl was found in St. Louis, MO. It was discovered that this young girl was possibly from PA, OH, MI, MN, WI, IN, and WV. Although, most of Gary's crimes were from Florida, Georgia and South Carolina, it is suspected by the FBI that Gary was connected to crimes as far as Arkansas, all of Gary's crimes and are located in the South-East, as was the young AA girl!

Please help me with research and possible connections. This young girl is still unidentified, Gary mostly found his victims on hikes. If we can find out who this girl was, maybe he (or someone else) can be connected.

I hope and pray they are able to lock up the piece of garbage that did this to this innocent child. I think she may have been orphaned.

Another thing that bothers me here. Hope was unusually tall for her age. Surely she would stand out in a crowd? Surely somebody somewhere would remember seeing her in school?

Honestly, I don't think she was tall enough to really stand out. I was 5'6 at 11/12 and not even one of the tallest in my class, I was about 4'10 at 8 as well. I'm now a 5'8 woman.

Well, without teeth, her age at death is a guess. Not sure how much time & trouble was invested in her autopsy -- did the examiner take a good look at her wrists & long bones, was imaging done? Did that examiner have experience with pediatrics? Malnutrition prenatally or at any point in childhood slows skeletal growth and bone development.

Remember that at the attempt to exhume this young lady -- authorities weren't sure where she was interred!

Some may infer that care was perhaps not taken with her autopsy, either, IMHO perhaps, just maybe, a possibility.

@Springrain , too bad we weren't in school together! I was 5'7" at 12 years old, reached 5'10", the spinal specialist's office says that I'm now down to 5'8" with my old flattened beat-up "shoe leather" lumbar discs.

And, a Child & Teen BMI calculator indicates there is something off about those numbers:

Yeah, that is a BMI of 11-12 which is starvation levels (and it claims she even could be as low as 61 pounds which is even more impossible). I'm guessing this is a faulty estimate, eg. they weighed the remains and calculated that she would have lost X% of her original weight due to decomposition, but forgot to factor in the weight of her head since it wasn't found...something like that.

I have seen cases on NamUs where the "weight" was way way off, like adult males weighing less than 50 pounds (probably the weight of the skeletal remains).

I saw a case where a women's remains were examined and thought to be in her late teens- early 20's, the women was in fact in her 50's a thus couldn't be ID her for almost 30 years!

Gary would be a good suspect. I suspect him in a case from 1993 that involved decapitation.

This could narrow down what serial killer(s) were operating in the area and during the timeframe of St. Louis Jane Doe's murder.

Although Badella was gay, his proximity to STL and his methods stand out. His alleged first victim was suspended above a stove where his blood was drained. He tortured and dismembered his victims. Its a long shot if he's involved and its possible he was inspired by STL Jane Doe's murder and copied the draining of his victim's blood...

I wondered if the killer worked at a mortuary or funeral home and used the morgue/funeral home to drain STL Jane Doe's blood. Whoever killed her kept her head as a trophy or her identification would connect him to her murder.

I did read the previous post about the boy killed (he may have been decapitated). I have a newspapers account, and I read those articles within the last few mths...I also read about a female causian child killed as well...

I know William Reece is a suspect in Laura Smithers case however, if he confessed to others murders and lead authorities to victim's remains why wouldn't he admit to Smithers...

On the morning of February 28, 1983, two men were rummaging through the basement of an abandoned apartment building at 5635 Clemens Avenue in St. Louis. They made a gruesome discovery, the body of a young black girl, between 8-11 years old. Her hands had been tied behind her and she was sexually assaulted and then strangled. After death, she was decapitated with a long, heavy knife. Her head was never discovered, and she remains unidentified to this day.

This case has always disturbed me. You'd think, someone that young, someone somewhere would be missing them, or know who they are.

So far there seems to be a killer(s) in the East (PA & NJ), Midwest (MO & IL), West (WA) and South (TX). The list would grow longer if all of the dismembered victims were added. Does anything connect these states? Fuel Tank deliveries?

I've also wondered if the killer was a Butcher and worked at one of the meat packing plants.

Meatpacker Closes Plant at National City Stockyards

He said an Armour Meat Packing Co. plant ceased operation in 1958; the Hunter Packing Co. closed its East St. Louis plant in 1981, idling 750 workers; and 90 lost their jobs when Royal Packing Co. closed a National City plant the same year.

Swift has operated packing plants in the National City area since the turn of the century and employed 2,300 workers in 1949. The existing plant opened in 1972.

Production from National City will be shifted to some of Swift’s 10 other packing plants in Iowa, South Dakota, Texas, Georgia, Minnesota and Missouri, making them more efficient, Dillman said.
