SUNBURY, Ohio Investigators on Wednesday said two escaped prisoners could be connected to the disappearance of a Delaware County man who has not been heard from in two days.
Police said that David Cupps was in Mississippi for work on Monday.
Cupps, 53, who is from Sunbury, picked up his rental car but never checked into his hotel that night, investigators said.
Investigators said they found Cupps' rental car in west Tennessee, near the city of Lexington, on Tuesday night. Cupps' brief case, suit case and laptop were found in the vehicle.
Witnesses reported seeing two men running from the car and investigators believe that they could be Darian "Drake" Pierce and Ricky Wedgeworth, who escaped from a work detail in Baton Rouge, La., on Friday afternoon.
Wedgeworth was serving time for a 2006 armed robbery. He is described as about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 145 lbs., with reddish brown hair and brown eyes. He has tattoos on his arms, chest and abdomen.
Pierce was serving time for attempted second degree murder. He is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 145 lbs. He has brown hair and eyes and tattooed fingers on his right hand.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation at 800-824-3463.

As of late Tuesday evening, troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol were combing the area around Interstate 40 near Henderson Road and Christmasville Road/Dr. F. E. Wright Drive for two prison escapees considered armed and dangerous.
Darian "Drake" Pierce, 33, and Ricky Wedgeworth, 36, are believed to be on foot in the area. Troopers said around 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, they attempted to pull their vehicle over. But instead of stopping, the two are accused of bailing out of their vehicle as it rolled into a ditch near mile marker 84 along westbound I-40 and running into the wooded area.

JACKSON, Tenn. - A manhunt is underway in West Tennessee for two dangerous fugitives from Louisiana. They walked away from a work detail Friday and the TBI says they may be hiding out in the Mid-South.
36-year old Ricky Wedgeworth of Memphis and 33-year-old Darian "Drake" Pierce walked away from a work detail Friday. They were spotted in a stolen car on Interstate 40 in Jackson, Tennessee Tuesday night by a Tennessee Trooper, but managed to get away on foot.
These two escapees are being investigated for yet another more recent crime. That stolen car the inmates fled from was from Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Law enforcement suspects there may be further foul play involved after they found blood inside that stolen vehicle, and they have been unable to contact the person the car was stolen from.
