"A woman’s body found Saturday afternoon in Lincoln County has been sent to the Mississippi Crime Lab for autopsy.

Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing said a passerby driving on Caseyville Road about 4:45 p.m. saw what appeared to be a body about 10 to 15 yards from the street and called authorities.

A woman’s body was found on the edge of the Homochitto National Forest just inside the Lincoln County line, he said. Rushing estimates it had been there for several days....

The woman’s death is being treated as a homicide, he said."

Alisha Ivy from Clarke County (a couple of counties east of Lincoln) is missing. There are probably women missing from the Jackson or coastal areas too though. Hopefully this will bring closure for a family, if nothing else.

Man charged with murder after missing Lincoln Co. woman’s body found

Sixty-year-old Dianne Richardson McMorris was last seen by her family two weeks ago, driving a 2003 gray Ford Focus.

Sheriff Rushing said a woman’s body was discovered in the Homochitto National Forest around 4:45 p.m Saturday, August 24. The body was 10 to 15 yards into the forest off of Caseyville Road.

Deputies received confirmation from the State Crime Lab Tuesday morning that it was McMorris’ body.

A Bogue Chitto man has pleaded guilty to capital murder in the 2019 death of a missing Bogue Chitto woman.

The “person of interest,” Dan White, also of Pecan Lane, was charged with first-degree murder, burglary of an occupied dwelling, and unlawful possession of a motor vehicle. McMorris was killed during the burglary, and her body taken to the location where she was later found.

White, now 46, pleaded guilty in Lincoln County Circuit Court on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, to capital murder and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle. Judge David Strong sentenced White to life in prison for murder, and an additional 5 years for the theft of her auto. The entire sentence must be served without the possibility of early release or parole.
