Jackson Police Department is searching for a 22-year-old Jackson woman.

Kyla Barnett is described as a Black female around five feet, four inches tall, with brown hair and brown eyes.

On Friday, October 15, Barnett was last seen in the 1400 block of Perkins Street in Hinds County, traveling in a black 2014 Honda Civic with a Texas tag bearing NTP0643.

I wonder whereabouts the car was found? Where she would have headed off to after leaving the vehicle, were there houses, shops etc around, or a more rural area?

Clayton County police find vehicle of woman reported missing in Mississippi

Clayton County police found the vehicle registered to Kyla Barnett on Saturday in the 3400 block of Mount Zion Road, but the whereabouts of the 22-year-old woman is still unknown.

A police statement emailed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Sunday said video shows Barnett sitting alone in her vehicle for several minutes before exiting and walking off camera. The vehicle was in good condition with no sign of damage or foul play, the statement said.

According to the Clayton County Police Dept.,she is reported to have a form of medical condition that may impair her judgment.

Family speaks out: Jackson police searching for missing 22-year-old mother of two

Jackson police are searching for 22-year-old Kyla Barnett who was last seen on Saturday, October 16, 2021.

Billie Barnett, Kyla’s father, said she was last seen leaving Hunter Oaks Apartments on Highway 80 in Clinton.

Barnett said his daughter drivers a black 2014 Honda Civic with a Texas license plate that reads: NPT0463. (Which we now know has been found in GA)

Her father and stepmother came from Austin, Texas, to search for their daughter.


He said Kyla moved to Jackson in May following the murder of her boyfriend in Dallas, Texas. She had a child with her boyfriend. Barnett added that she had been living with her boyfriend’s family on Perkins Street in Jackson and had recently got a job at the Clinton Walmart.

Glad to hear she has been found.

This young woman is in deep grief and appears to be hurting terribly. I sincerely hope that she is able to get help to sort through her feelings.

Such a horrible thing to happen to someone so young.
