An enlarged heart is a likely factor in his death, Mississippi officials said Saturday. There were no signs of trauma on Banks' body, according to Forrest County coroner Butch Benedict.

An initial autopsy shows an enlarged heart and scar tissue on the heart, but a cause of death won't be determined until more tests are done.

Mississippi woman guilty for role in killing of 2 officers
A Mississippi woman has been convicted for helping a man who was accused of killing two police officers in 2015.

News outlets report that jurors deliberated less than an hour Wednesday before finding Calloway guilty of attempted accessory after the fact to capital murder and hindering prosecution. She was sentenced to the maximum of 20 years for the accessory charge and five years for hindering prosecution.
 
Man pleads guilty to weapon charge in Deen-Tate deaths - June 27, 2016

Jimmy "Jimbo" Velton Brady, the man accused of providing the weapon used to kill Hattiesburg police officers Benjamin J. Deen and Liquori Tate, pleaded guilty Monday in 12th District Circuit Court.

Brady was sentenced Monday to serve five years on the weapon charge, court officials said. He also pleaded guilty to the aggravated domestic violence and was sentenced to 10 years. He was ordered to serve three years on the domestic charge, with five years of post-release supervision.

Brother of accused Hattiesburg cop killer pleads guilty - August 11, 2016

Curtis Banks, 27, pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact of capital murder in connection to the May 9, 2015, murders.

Circuit Judge Bob Helfrich sentenced Curtis to the maximum sentence of 20 years in custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

"Why, was it worth it, and if you had to do all over again would you," asked Liquori Tate's mother Yolander Ross. "I hope that before you take your last breath that you find Jesus, I really do."

3 sentenced in murders of HPD officers Deen and Tate - June 26, 2017

Douglas McPhail, 23, was sentenced to 5 years, with 2 to serve on house arrest with 3 years post release supervision for conspiracy, and then the same sentence to run concurrent for the hindering charge.

Anquanette Alexander's, 21, sentencing was deferred for 5 years, non-adjudicated and placed under Mississippi Department of Corrections supervision for conspiracy. Count two, for hindering was passed to the inactive files.

Broderick Kendell Varnado, 27, of Hattiesburg pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact of capital murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in connection to the deaths of the two officers on May 22, 2017.

Varnado was sentenced to 20 years with 12 to serve with 8 years suspended on post-release supervision for accessory after the fact of capital murder. Count two, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon he was sentenced to 10 years in custody of MDOC, to run concurrent with count one and both sentences will run consecutive. A revocation was addressed for a previous sex crime and he was sentenced to 8 years in the custody of MDOC.

Cornelius Clark pleads guilty in Hattiesburg police officers' deaths - September 8, 2017

He pleaded guilty Friday before 12th District Circuit Judge Bob Helfrich at Forrest County Courthouse to first-degree hindering prosecution and was sentenced to five years, with two to serve under house arrest and three years suspended under post-release supervision.

Clark was fined $2,500 and ordered to pay $200 for crime victims compensation and $250 to the public defenders fund.

Abram Wade "Pete" Franklin is set to be arraigned Monday in Lamar County Court for first-degree hindering prosecution. He allegedly tried to hide the fact that Marvin Banks' brother, Curtis Banks, was hiding in his attic, making it more difficult for police to locate him.

Franklin has been out on $75,000 bond. He was first charged in Forrest County, but his case was transferred to the 15th District Circuit Court after it was learned his residence sits in Lamar County.

He will be the final suspect to face prosecution.

Abram Wade “Pete” Franklin, 32, pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution and possession of a stolen firearm. Franklin was sentenced to serve five years for each count. Those sentences will run concurrent.

Curtis Banks, the brother of alleged gunman Marvin Banks, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm. Curtis was sentenced to 30 years in custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with 10 years to serve in prison.

15th Circuit District Attorney Hal Kittrell said he commends the agencies involved for the work done on the case.

"We can only hope these convictions provide some level of peace to the families of these heroes (Deen and Tate), to their brothers and sisters in blue and to our community that has mourned."
