Detectives secured the search warrant after doctors at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill said the childs wounds were inconsistent with Ayscues account. Authorities have not released the identity or condition of the child.
In a search of 1871 U.S. 70 lot four, investigators seized more than 30 items, including a blue towel with blood on it, a sheet from the childs bed, three blood samples from the shower wall, a washcloth from the master bedroom, swatches from a couch in the living room, a pillow from the hallway, a blood sample from the wall near a microwave cart, a coat hanger, drain stopper and a bottle of Resolve carpet cleaner. They also seized samples of open liquor bottles and, in a separate search warrant, secured a blood sample from Ayscue at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
Ayscue was placed in the Alamance County Detention Center on $750,000 bond and made a first appearance in court Monday.
