Recovery team renews search for woman

GASTONIA, N.C.-- A South Carolina-based search team is combing parts of Gaston County this weekend for a woman who’s been missing more than a year.
Jamie Fraley was 22 when she disappeared from her apartment on Lowell-Bethesda Road on April 8, 2008. Fraley’s mother says her purse and keys were found inside her locked apartment, and her cell phone turned up on the side of the road a few days later. Other than the phone, no trace of Fraley has been found.
In the year since Fraley’s disappearance, divers have searched a nearby lake and woods, and Kim Fraley has passed out flyers with Jamie’s picture at a Checkers hockey game.
A man police considered a person of interest in the case died last June, cutting off potential leads.

Okay, I used to live here and drove by this intersection where the phone was found a gazillion times. There is nothing there...literally, except woods. There is a vets office on one corner which has standard business hours and there used to be a grocery store nearby but it closed before this happened and it remains empty. The direction of the phone is not the way to the hospital. So sad...I hope they find her.

I came across Jaimie's disappearence because a body was found in Kings Mountain State Park, SC which is about 15 minutes from Gastonia.

There seems to be a LOT of missing women from Gastonia - all of them missing in a very short amount of time:

And then Heather Catterton's body was just found in October in Kings Mt. State Park - she was from Gastonia too.
 
In the last two weeks two women from Gastonia have been found murdered in Kings Mt. Park. The women have been identified as Randi Saldana, age 30 and Heather Catterton, age 17. According to friends and family these two women knew eachother and ran in the same circles. If you add them to the list of the missing in Gastonia that is a total of 6 women in Gastonia missing or murdered. So far I have not read any references to the other 4 missing women in any of the articles about this latest discovery.

A few weeks prior to Saldana's murder, investigators discovered the body of 17-year-old Heather Catterton. On Friday, police charged 47-year-old Danny Hembree in both murders. In a bizarre twist of fate, Moore believes her daughter met Hembree when she paid respects to Catterton's family.

"I think that's when he feasted his evil eyes on her, I really do," she said.

Hembree had been dating Catterton's sister, her father told WBTV he was shocked by the arrest.

TM, I bet they are looking at him. They've also now got Hembree on a murder of a woman back from 1992. Another man named James Swanson was also arrested for that murder as well.

It struck me that these are young girls who trust older men weather it be they are dating them or dating their sons. Of course that in itself is no big deal it's just always weirded me out. Hembree was dating Heather Catterton's sister, Nicole who is much younger than him.

On an aside it's reported Heather's sister, Nicole is now missing. They say she ran away. Poor girl. I also read that Hembree's one son thinks he is guilty and has been estranged from him. He lives close by to his grandmom of whom Hembree moved in with after he got out of prison. The son has a little baby and never brought the child around his father due to his past and long criminal record.
 
I ran across this information of a young white female, approximately late teens to mid 20's, approximately 5 ft tall. I was following the Brittanee Drexel case and ran across this story about this unidentified young female being found. Although it has been a long time since Jamie disappeared, the police have not stated how long they believe this person has been deceased that was discovered in Guilford County, NC.

I felt the description sort of met the basic description of Brittanee, as she appeared to be the same size and was 17 at time of her disappearance. She disappeared from Myrtle Beach, SC, so it would seem more possible to be Jamie than Brittanee just judging from the distance involved. Hope that the LE in Guilford County, NC have the information on these two young ladies and look into it. From what I have read on WS and another message board, they have been contacted regarding both of them.

County Police Seek Information Regarding Jamie Fraley

Gaston County Police continue to seek information regarding the whereabouts of Jamie Michelle Fraley. Jamie Michelle Fraley was reported missing on April 9,
2008 from 1850 Lowell Bethesda Road Gastonia, NC. Jamie was 22 years old
when she disappeared and would be 24 years of age today. Jamie Fraley is
described as a white female, 4ft 8inches tall, blonde hair, brown eyes, and 90lbs.

Mrs. Fraley was last known to be at her apartment on April 9, 2008 at
approximately 2am. Personal items belonging to Mrs. Fraley were located on
South New Hope Road two days after her being reported missing. A reward is
being offered for information that solves this case. Anyone with information is
asked to contact Gaston County Police at 704-866-3320 or CrimeStoppers at

Two women who were both 22 at the time, Priti Porter and Jamie Fraley, are also still missing.

An extreme amount of effort has gone into the investigations that could all use a boost now three to four years later, said investigators.

A large billboard along I-85 still asks for tips in Fraley’s disappearance.

“Fraley has been an intensive and exhaustive investigation but we try to do that with every case,” said Capt. Joe Ramey of Gaston County Police Department.

Missing woman's angels won't give up the search

No matter how thin the trail, the three searchers follow it.

They comb Gaston County fields and woods, knock on doors and cruise back roads.

The three women are on a mission to solve the mystery of 22-year-old Jamie Fraley, who disappeared from her apartment near Gastonia three years ago, on April 9, 2008.

i live in kings mountain, a tiny town right beside gastonia (like 15 minutes away). i go to gasstonia all the time to go to the mall, walmart, target, other stores. i had never heard about Jamie's case, until i was in town the other day at the pawnshop and saw her poster in the glass. i never miss an episode of dissapeared on ID so idk how missed this one.

but could anyone lead me to a link of the full episode? i am so intersted in her case. i feel maybe i could help, keep an eye out, donate, something, since this is so close to home.. or if someone could just lead me to the info of her dissapearance, i'd be very appreciative!
