However, in a search warrant of Holton's car police wrote, "it was learned that her (Holton) personal vehicle was parked approximately one block away at the Harris Teeter. Ms. Holton advised that she had locked her keys in this vehicle earlier and had left it at this location." Holton says she forgot her car was still at the Harris Teeter in the panic over her sister. She tells ABC11 Eyewitness News that police interviewed her at length and have informed her she is no longer a suspect.Sources close to the case say Holton is essentially right, although no one can be completely eliminated as a suspect at this point in the investigation.

I'm questioning how much participation in anything KT had that evening after her surgery. She should have been pretty well knocked out until the following day. I know my only goal after outpatient surgery is to go to the bathroom or get a drink of water. Movie and such? No way.

Also, I wonder how big those baggy corners were? They can hold alot of drugs. I'm thinking more than one would be for more than one person.

I think people react differently. I took my meds but could not sleep soundly. I was uncomfortable and couldn't rest well eleavated in one position. I woke up every hour or so. I did eat and watch tv.

I'm not very familiar with the drug world, however, I do know that people taking your car for their own use is a very common thing. I have heard numerous times that the drug dealer took the buyer's car. They use it for a period of time and then give it back. I know it sounds odd, but I know it happens. I'm not sure why they do it. Anyway, I'm just trying to think of reasons someone would have left D's car that way. Maybe they couldn't remember the address. (D didn't reallly know it either.)

You must blow into it to prove you have no alcohol before you can start your car. Maybe she left it running when she went into somewhere to drink alcohol, fearing it wouldn't restart when she came out? Then when she came out, she forgot about it. Friday, March 5
4:30 p.m. DH gets food from HT grocery store. She locks keys in car; walks back home. (This may not have taken place during this visit to HT.)

9:00 p.m. They begin to watch movie

11:00 p.m. DH goes back to HT. (This may be when she locked her keys in the car.) There is a second receipt found in house, although no date/time was made public. Maybe she intended to just run into HT? Maybe she meets the man from the video then. Instead of going right home, she goes in Glenwood Grill for a few drinks and stays until closing possibly forgetting that she left her vehicle running, possibly leaving running because of interlock system that may be on vehicle.

Maybe she told KT she was going to get the car/meeting locksmith? Made sure KT was tucked in, had meds and had fallen asleep ... the handwritten note may have indicated that she was running back to HT? Would her husband have driven to Raleigh with another set of keys?

Saturday, March 6
2:00 a.m. Leaves car running ... She doesn't she take it then possibly because the unknown male drives her to the house?

3 a.m. DH goes to bed. Some time between 3 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., KT is attacked. If DH is doing drugs, she may not be able to remember and give description of man but knows she met in HT grocery store (and he is on video). Not sure about the Domino's pizza connection and whether LE asked any other store staff if they recognized him.

9:31 a.m. DH calls 911; KT transported to WakeMed. DH says her Durango is out in front of the house (it probably was her intention to drive home from GG that night, and she is confused about the events of the evening when she makes that call ... however, when the search is conducted, the vehicle is about a block away)
10 a.m. Surgeon calls RPD because surgeon realized it was not complications from surgery. RPD waits on line but by time the nurse gets there, they have hung up.

11:30 Nurse calls 911 (says the patient was brought in about 1 1/2 hours before) and indicates there was also sexual assault.

Was it that really afternoon or was it 2AM and she was trying to hide that embarrassing, negligent fact early on???

Remember the cops said they don't know if she was attacked late Friday or sometime Saturday. That seems to imply that DH was indeed out of the house from 11PM until before 3AM. It all adds up to drinking at GG until closing (after 2am). Perhaps she did a couple of quick lines of coke after she saw KT to bed and then headed out around 11?

Those privy to autopsy reports, know how much to believe about the sister's account of the afternoon/evening after surgery. What & when KT ate should be telling. As previously mentioned, my hinky meter buzzed at DH's story. I cannot picture the sisters dining in the den while watching a movie. A few hours post surgery- noway jose!

I also question the former relationship with JG. They were often seen dining out together. Certainly couples can remain friendly but, couldn't that have been fudged a little to dis-associate because of her political position... that is if the multiple DUIs are for this JMG? Does anyone know if she was dating anyone else?

Reading WS expands our horizons. I didn't understand "baggie corners", but just learned a few posts back they are heat-sealed.... well, duh, that would keep contents from spilling out! Also, it never occurred to me that sobriety devices could easily be circumvented by simply not turning off the engine. I hope someone is working to alter them to need restarting after the motor idles for a limited time. Geez!

NoZme, I'm just speculating. I don't know a lot about the interlock devices. You would think they could not be manipulated very easily, but I don't know. I will research it further.



I just found this link that answers some questions. It says that the driver has 4 chances to blow enough to get a reading. If you fail to do that, you must turn the car off and start again.

These devices have keys if it is voluntary and can be overrun. If it's mandatory, you don't have control over it.

One of my co-workers had an interlock system in her car due to a DWI. The best I can remember she had to punch 4 buttons in a specific order and then blow long enough to get a breath registered. She could then start the car and after every 10 minutes of driving the interlock had to be blown into again. After every 1 hour of driving the vehicle had to be stopped and turned off for a 10 minute period and then the whole routine started again. She also had to go every other month to have the interlock system computer chip read for failures.

ETA she also had to be very careful about mouthwash in the mornings as it would register as a fail.

I'm not sure of that. This was her first offense but she blew some really high number like .18 or .16 or something - anyway more than twice the legal limit. So instead of completely losing her license she was given the option of the interlock system for the year. Her driving priviledges were from 6am to 7pm Mon through Fri ONLY. I still work with her so I can ask her questions about it - she is the only person I have ever known to have this and it was removed from her car about a year ago now.

I'm a new poster on WS. have been watching this site since finding it online. have met K long ago & have friends who knew her -so interested watching all the theories. IMO my theory is this .. think it's probable that.......it is a mixture of theories
--D went out to get groceries, ended up drinking at GG, picked someone up from GG or could have even been HT parking lot when keys locked inside & needing help -& brought this perp home from either- partied well into the night either leaving car at HT or driving it home. either doesn't matter & time line here wouldn't matter exactly if one of these following happened:
1-D could have come home on (foot /or car) w perp...(earlier or later) after a (few toddys or many).... then checks nominally on K when coming in or after partying for a few hours at the house (either)..... then parties until passed out (baggies & beer bottles) possibly using Ks recovering drug stash - so we are talking here possibly an almost lethal mixture...alcohol,Crk or M(baggies) &/or who knows could have been slipped the date rape drug by perp?? mixture here of all or some?? enough to put one into a drug induced stupor & pass out.(D) whois already inclined to being in that stupor anyway.
2--so perp whomD brings home from HT or GG /or follows her home/or who is there when she comes home... either parties w/her- then party eventually turns into more --Sex drugs & rock & roll. D in a stupor & eventually passing out. Perp then finishing off K taking a whak & a snak(rape) & stealing car keys then driving D's car from front driveway off to HT (back to his car).... & takes off. blowing out of there...gone forever. No cameras in parking lot thus nothing captured on camera. Perp gets away scot free. leaving D holding the bag. (no memory of anything)so---that would explain why groggy foggy spacey D - when calling 911 thought &said her car was in the driveway & seemed to not really "get" what had just happened to K. then as her head eventually began to clear-- began to realize little by little what the perp she invited in had done. that is when she began to talk to paramedics & hospital sayin' - "could have been raped" , "may have possibly seen someone...."
- that would also explain why LE looked for perp & found camera footage inside one of the locations near where the car was left (either that eve or next morning)

The DWI disposition date was 4-16-04 (within 5 years)
It is unclear if she was even convicted.

"you generally will be required to install an ignition interlock device on your car if your BAC is 0.15 percent or higher or if this is your second or subsequent conviction. The devise stays in the car for a period of 1 year after driving privileges are reinstated."

Unless she had another more recent DWI we don't know about, there should not have been a iid installed.

Questions I have are:
1-DOES Anyone know for certain that the CAR was reported by D to have been left at HT the Eve before?? or could it have been left there by the PERP that morning as I stated in my first post???
2-Where were the Keys found?? were they found in the car or at the house??
3-where did she pick the Perp up??
4-did she know him , remember him, ever see him before??
THE BIG QUESTION--5-was any DNA found on D??? Did anyone do a check on D's intimate areas? she wouldn't have remembered anything if passed out in a stupor
6-what exactly IS IT that D now remembers??
7-where is D now??
8-perhaps D met perp in AA or DUI type recovery & sort of knew perp (in a perfunctory type of way & thought nothing of inviting in for a few fun toddys)
