Did the prosecution ask the "snitch" if she got anything in return for her testimony? Seems to me in another trial and I'm thinking it was Jason Young's trial (may very well be wrong) - they made a point of asking the "snitch" what they got for their testimony. That way it wouldn't be an issue. I think she was very detailed about a someone else's story. I could retell a story that was relayed to me, but I swear I wouldn't remember names - specifically song names.

And do you think Patsy came flying into town with those letters because she was afraid AH was about to be set free by the jury? She's had them all this time.

Def. was walking around it. Ms. Barakat (sp?) spit it right back at them that she was out of jail, on probation (or parole?) and she was gaining nothing from it.
That is IIRC.

MissSally that is exactly what I meant when I said it was a peek into her character. It does lend creedence to GH's claims of being sexually abused.

Yes, I thought so, too. If Patsy saw no weirdness in the teacher's jealously, she herself has some type of problem. Without knowing any family background, these are only hints of what might have gone on during his childhood. Sometimes patterns go back generations with that type of abuse, and may seem normal within a family.

I also wondered the same about Amanda's upbringing. Amanda's family, including Sha, seemed to have moved around quite a bit during childhood, living long periods of time with different relatives. That doesn't sound real stable to me, either.

But, I'm not a professional shrink, these are just my own impressions and opinions. But I'd sure read that book if anyone wrote it!

It can't be easy to afford 3 children you weren't expecting.

And they were prolly making retirement plans and poof! they became parents again X 3. At least they have a daycare -- which they were thinking about giving over to the Grant III's along with their house -- they were going to go to a smaller house. But no-o-o-o-o, not yet...

And HiYa Prancy -- glad to see you!!

Have to say this.
If my parents had named me "Grantina" and I had a father and brother both named Grant I would be one PO'd lady!
And would have long ago changed my name :giggle:

A sister, Grantina. IIRC. I don't know if there are more.

I just did a quick search and it looks like someone with that name (and how many could there be?) is a probation/parole officer of some sort. Weird.

And everybody in Kinston knows all about it. Great for those little children and the grandparents who take them places.... You know how unthinking and mean children can be. <smh> My heart hurts for them.

It will be horrendous for them! Unfortunately, as they grow into adults, no matter where they live, they will have knowledge of all the gruesome details of this crime. Kids in these situations need special help from professionals to work it through, so that they may reconcile their feelings and move on in life, if that's at all possible. I hope (but doubt) that will happen in this case. Just my opinion.

Her measurements, WTH? I can't see Amanda, is she crying yet?
This letter is unreal!

bbm

I'll say, MissSally! Somewhere along the line, ol' Amanda must've had a change of heart. From utter fear of her life to love-you-very-much.

Lol, I did the same, I'm a snoop! Interesting, because I thought I heard during Amanda's testimony (maybe) she mentioned that it was Grantina, Grant's sister, who suggested the ex-parte motion to Grant to get possession of the kids. Seems to line up with her occupation, if that is indeed her.

I guess fashion-forward Amanda was not willing to wear her underwear to court as her much-beloved jailhouse hubby was.

I'm surprised they didn't offically name Grant: "Grant Ruffin Hayes III The Great"

:floorlaugh::floorlaugh: Yes! Screaming down the sink "I love you Grant!" and professing her love in writing. It's just utterly amazing how she now says she was in fear of her life!

And when Detective Faulk described G & A's behavior after arrest - the massages, etc - floored me. Hope the jury noted that one! :floorlaugh:

I'm curious about the timing of the letters and the timing of Grant's trial. Was Amanda trying to keep Grant under control until the end of his trial?

Good golly Miss Molly - can you imagine Grant and Amanda in charge of a daycare?

The one question that I wish someone would have asked AH on the stand - "How do you feel about Laura being dead?" Or some variation like "How do you feel about Laura being killed and by your husband even?" I wanted to see her true emotions at work or her bad acting on display, so I could try to give her a good read. You know - body language, tissue usage, choking for words, etc. She really didn't seem to humanize Laura at all - she was a "thing" to be dealt with, alive or dead. I wanted to see her feel bad for this deceased lady and not for the inconvenient disruption to her own life. I believe it would have left little room for doubt.
