I could be wrong, but I wonder if LE was looking for something (ANYTHING) to charge him with to hold him until they could figure out and get evidence to prove he had murdered this baby. JMO.

This was my thought. I don’t think it’s directly related. Occam’s razor comes into play- why dispose of a body in something really difficult to move when you could use a blanket or bag? Doesn’t make sense.

I'm still struck by the timing of the arrest. 2am? All the LE on this case, it should have been easy to watch him until morning. I think its significant when taken with the timeline that's been announced. A little nod from LE that THEY know what he did- or a psych tweak to someone else involved.... jmho. Of course, they could have simply responded the minute they had confirmation and could, or caught him moving around and were worried he'd flee.[/QUOTE]

They didn't want to chance that he'd overdose in the meantime. Or maybe go ape-**** and kill someone else.

I never believed that she would be found alive but it still hurts to hear that she is dead. It is so depressing to see how many kids are killed every year by family or friends of the family.

This is pure speculation, just brainstorming ideas to make sense of the dressers.

Perhaps he bundled up Mariah after she died and brought her to the abandoned house to hide her in a dresser drawer. Later, he decided that was not a good idea, so went back to retrieve her, but either couldn't bear to touch her body so he took the whole dresser, or he realized that evidence would be detected on the dressers even if he removed the body, so he took the whole dressers.

Again, this is speculation, not fact. jmopinion, thinking aloud.

Why does it matter right now if they were all divorced or married, etc....?

Sadly, when you're throwing things into a blender, it doesn't really matter which item goes in first. Everything is affected, in some way, in the end.

You wonder if the used to go out at night a lot and steal stuff. I mean, was this, in fact, a typical Sunday night?

Even if someone is savvy enough to file without an attorney there are still filing fees and court costs.

Yes however in all states and counties, you can apply for indigent status to have those fees waived so you can get divorced.

Anyone know if News in Onslow is considered MSM?

Nevermind

Sure, why not! Or, maybe the dressers were stolen so that they could "cover" bloodstains on the floor or walls . . .

Never uses her name. (Although we've all heard the other quote where "she goes by Mariah")

Never expresses concern for what Mariah may be going through... is she hurt, is she scared, is she crying, she doesn't have her favorite blankie...

"She's an angel" ("angel" used twice)
"Love her to death"
"Not let her go again"

History of birth (tubes tied)... irrelevant to finding a missing child. Others have commented that it sounds like a eulogy.

I'd *love* to hear the 911 call. I hope they release it soon.

I would avoid talking about what she may be going through on camera so I could get through the interview without becoming a mess and not being able to continue. If I was trying to get the word out, I would steel myself and attempt to stick to talking about things that I could get through.

This is from a previous post of mine on the subject.

Just thinking about what some of my friends and family may have gone through in their last moments can turn me into a mess decades later. I can talk about them, their accidents, and a lot of things surrounding that. But if someone wanted me to discuss my fears and concerns about what they specifically went through, I could not do it on camera. And once I became a mess, there would be no going on in the interview.

So speaking, on camera, about her being fearful and cold and what may possibly be happening to her physically and emotionally would be a no go for me.

Love your observations Wyle E!! Do we think they'll release the 911 before trial?

Quoting myself here . . maybe Mariah was killed in this shed or wherever the dressers were found? Hence, nobody heard?

Please, NO!!! That's been full of gossip, misinformation & unprofessionalism.

Edit: Sorry- I forgot to quote again. :( IRT News in Onslow.

Yes, that another possibility.

When we know the COD, the dressers might make more sense. For some reason (based on nothing), I'm not expecting blood stains....I'm thinking suffocation, strangulation, shaking....that sort of thing. Again, this is pure speculation with no facts to back it up. Thinking aloud.

more statement analysis -

"we call her our little angel" this is interesting because of the we and our, but she's not with the dad anymore and it's in the present tense. She's not EK's daughter so she can't be including him in the we and our. Putting someone else in the statement that she doesn't have a relationship with means she's sharing out the guilt, or not wiling to take personal responsibility for what she's saying.

"just to be able to touch her and hold her and not let her go again" Just excludes Mariah interacting with her if she was alive and returned to her. It literally only includes what the mother can do, not what Mariah does - plays, talks, etc.

Are we even sure that Mariah is her first name? In Kentucky, it is common for people to "go by" their middle name.

This is a copy of Mariah's birth in The Onslow County Register of Deeds
