Most of the time, the person delivering the goods wouldn't ever see the person picking them up, just a go between. It wouldn't be uncommon for McNeil to have been told what room on what day, and not have known until he got there that he wouldn't be seeing anyone.
I don't think they would have told him that there would unguarded cash in that room, but they could have told him he would be meeting someone there and just left him a note.

And, yes, dead is better, in my opinion.

But it's a motel and there would be a trail ~ from who had the room before, or rented the room, to him having access to the room to leave her, and then the buyer coming back to pick her up. What I'd like to know right now is who was seen getting in and out of the elevator after he & Shaniya arrived, or who was staying on the same floor. MOO

I just don't get the hotel room. He doesn't look like he would have excess cash to spend on a hotel room. I would think that any money he had would go to drugs. Anything that he wanted to do to her could be done in his car in a remote area. If he was handing her off to someone else, that could be done anywhere. The hotel room indicates to me that there might have been a planned pedophile party or a *advertiser censored* shoot scheduled. I think he was tipped off by someone (maybe the aunt) and had to leave in a hurry. I hope she is found soon and alive. I feel sorry for the father; he looks like a decent guy.

The choice of the hotel and bringing her to a hotel in the first place sticks out to me as well. Does he know someone in the hotel that is part of this? And somehow an innocent employee witnessed him bringing Shaniya in?

I'm still not understanding why she wasn't dressed. It almost looks ridiculous that he's in a warm jacket carrying her with her bare legs and feet exposed. That in itself would've tipped me off if I'd seen them at the motel. It's cold out at that hour of the morning! MOO

Maybe he was on his way to another room inside the hotel, not the room he checked in.

Trying to think this through:

1:
MM arrives with Shaniya and leaves w/o her. If LE knew this, I believe they would tell us and they would have a description of whoever she left with, unless someone with dreds resembling MM took her out as well.

2:
MM arrives with Shaniya and leaves w/ her. If he changed her clothes, we would know -- if LE knew -- so that people could be on the lookout for her with those particular clothes on. We'd probably see a screenshot of that as well.

So here's the question: WHY take her to a hotel and leave with her having the same clothes on? If this were a big-time commercial ring, they would've had someone waiting with a change of clothes, hair color, whatever. Or, at a minimum would've instructed MM to have a different outfit for her.

Thinking of this leads me a scenario (similar to Panthera's, I believe) where MM took/bought/traded her from mom with the intent of selling her to someone else. Got to the hotel to hide out while finding a buyer. However, got a call that LE was on the lookout, so he leaves with her, kills her, and dumps her.

Either that or the buyer wasn't interested b/c of incontinence or damage, etc. So they just told him to get her out of there.

Either way, he could not go back - not now, especially if he had raped her: she'd tell. So he gets rid of her.

This case is really getting to me like no other.

I agree with what Passion said earlier, if the search has been called off until tom morn, they are not looking for a live Shaniya. IMO

The article (FayO or wral, I'll repost link) gave the name of hotel as Comfort Suites so again, I called the hotel and inquired specifically as to the number of floors--desk clerk informed me this is a FOUR-STORY hotel.
