What kind of father buys meth for the mother of his child knowing that she’s with his child and then watches her take off with the baby? Did he not realize the danger Tyr would be in? These types of cases anger and sadden me at the same time. I wonder if the father will be charged for selling her the meth and doing nothing to stop her.

Sleep well little Tyr.

Rehab only works if the person WANTS it to work. It doesn't work if they are only doing it because of a judge's order, or because their attorney told them it would make them look better. Addicts have to WANT to stop, and even then, it's not always enough.
Exactly! I have nearly 2yrs sober and there was no chn chance in hell I’d have this time based on doing it for someone else. I had to be ready for ME. I had to hit my bottom and finally believe and KNOW that I was sick. I have since sponsored other alcoholic individuals and never have seen lasting sobriety out of a “court ordered” alcoholic.

Justice Lange set to change her plea

STUTSMAN COUNTY, N.D. - The woman accused of manslaughter and child neglect in the death of her four month old child is changing her plea.

Twenty-five-year-old Justice Lange was set to stand trial for the charges starting on Monday. According to online records, a plea hearing is now set for Monday at 9 a.m. Lange pleaded not guilty to the two felonies in September.

Monday, March 18th:
*Plea Hearing (@ 9am CT) - ND – Tyr Lange (4 mos) (missing 6/28/18, Carrington, died about 7/4/18, found deceased 7/7/18) – *Justice Maxine Lange (24) charged (7/12/18) with felony manslaughter (Class B felony) & felony child neglect (Class C felony). Plead not guilty. Bond set at $250K cash or $500K surety bond with requirements that she participate in the 24/7 program and not leave the state of North Dakota if released.
Max sentence 15 years in prison. After found taken to Fargo hospital w/undisclosed injuries, said she couldn’t remember last 4 days or location of her son.
11/8/18 Update: Set trial dates for 3/18, 3/19, 3/20, 3/21 & 3/22/19.
3/16/19 Update: Lange will be changing her plea to guilty. Hearing now set for Monday, 3/18 instead of trial.

Justice Lange has been sentenced to serve 12 years in the death of her son

UPDATE: Justice Lange has been sentenced to 12 years in prison & 2 years of supervised probation. Lange’s charge of manslaughter was changed to negligent homicide, but the child neglect charge stayed the same.

It was a very emotional morning in the courtroom. The judge telling Lange that she’s caused the court ‘many sleepless nights.’ Also telling Lange that her conduct killed her baby.

The judge also had the court take a minute of silence for Lange’s baby, 4-month-old Tyr. The judge said it was to remember Tyr in his last minutes of life when he was starving, without water or clothes, & in the summer heat.

Biggest catch of it all: Lange has 48 hours to withdraw her guilty plea. Lange came to a different plea agreement w/the state, and the judge ordered more prison time than that agreement. So, for now it’s a deal— 12 years in prison, 2 supervises probation.

However, Lange can change her mind in the next 48 hours and we can be back here on Wednesday.

Lange sentence stands

The sentence handed down by Judge Cherie Clark in the Justice Lange case Monday will stand. Lange had 48 hours to reconsider her acceptance of a plea deal after Clark’s sentence was harsher than the plea deal recommendation.
[.....]
Clark sentenced Lange to 10 years in the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation on a charge of negligent homicide and two years on a charge of child neglect. The sentences are to be served consecutively, and Lange will be placed on two years supervised probation after she serves her jail sentence.
