I just read another news article about these arrests.
I was so thrilled to see this happen.

Although LE have not charged these 3 men with the disappearance of the Vanderlie's,
I think it will happen soon.

I also thought it had to be one of their employees/workman.
Who else knew their situation?

And yes, Brazilians knew what was going on, just from their conversations with Jacqueline.

Police said the three suspects used the victims' personal and business bank cards to withdraw money from ATMs. The transactions began on the same day the family disappeared, police said.
The three suspects are all illegal immigrants from Brazil, police said. They were arrested on Monday.
Tierney said homicide detectives have been following up on the case and working closely with the Douglas County Attorney's Office.

It took LE that long to figure out who used the Szczepanik's ATM card? That's pretty frightening. They had five full months to figure out whose faces were at the ATM machines and only after the busted the Mexican illegal (for some documentation issue) did they go after the Brazilian illegals for the financial transactions.

Well, no matter what nationality, I am glad that most criminals are created equally stupid so that they can be caught, eventually...

in 5 months they could have gone anywhere. If you look back at some of the chatter I posted from the Brazilian media, some of them were saying things like the police should look at the bank accounts.

You mean the whole time Jacqueline's daughter Tatiane was up here, they could not have shown her the faces and asked her who they were?

wow. These three Brazilians have been in custody since Feb on immigration charges. The article mentions surveillance videos.

I don't understand why they were not charged sooner. Owner of account vanishes, one or more of these guys is seen using bank cards at an ATM after the owner vanishes and they were holding them since Feb.

I can only surmise the Mexican illegal ratted them out as he too is being charged with financial crimes.

for some reason I can't find the translation function on this news item from Brazil.

it has mugshots of the four illegals they have detained thus far in connection with their use of Vanderlei's bank account(s) after they disappeared.

Another man was also arrested: Mexican undocumented Ricardo Gonzalez Mendez, who also worked in the work of a missionary center connected to an evangelical church in Florida, the Assembly of God of Bethlehem Police say he gave false information in his testimony and also may have used the card for personal use Brazilian disappeared.

IIRC, Vance brought these men with him to Omaha from Florida. We have 4 illegal immigrants (three Brazilian and one Mexican). I could understand that the Brazilians would be affiliated with the same Assembly of God church (that seems to specialize in helping Brazilian immigrants to the US). I find it odd however that the Mexican illegal immigrant is affiliated with the same church, and IF the translation can be believed, was a worker at the Assembly of God. Smacks to me that possibly the AoG church could be dealing generally with illegal immigration, regardless of country of origin.

We have the video of a despondent looking Carlos tromping through the Szczepaniks living quarters appearing to give a sweet damn. If, as alleged, he is involved in the fraudulent bank transactions on Dec 17th, then every single thing he said subsequent to the family's disappearance is in question.

When I first read about the church and something like an immigration ministry it raised eyebrows with me.

With a cry of “Happy birthday, Christopher!” the children let go of a handful of balloons, many of which floated into the sky over Omaha’s Pulaski Park, off to the southeast and eventually out of sight.

It was a hopeful but sadly fitting way to mark the eighth birthday of Christopher Szczepanik.
