What heartbreaking news to wake up to this morning. My prayers are with the people of Nepal, those who are there, and all who are awaiting word on loved ones.

Radio transmissions indicated its crew was having some type of fuel problem before it went missing, said Warren, who added the U.S. government is "hopeful" the aircraft didn't crash but doesn't know.

The aircraft was assisting with disaster relief in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake that struck the Himalayan nation on April 25, killing thousands of people. Another strong earthquake hit Nepal on Tuesday afternoon, causing more damage and casualties.

Nepali soldiers and police searched on foot through the night for the missing helicopter, said Prem Lal Lamichane, a senior official in Dolakha district.

Two U.S. helicopters from the same squadron as the missing aircraft set out Wednesday morning to conduct aerial searches, according to the U.S. military.

The Huey was kitted out with a satellite location device, a radio and an emergency beacon. It may have come down in a "dead zone" for radio signals, though, making it hard for searchers to locate it.

I am just wondering - hoping - if only three bodies have been found, is it possible the others survived and have tried to hike to safety?

8 bodies recovered from U.S. helicopter crash site; pilot identified

Eight bodies have now been recovered from the site
where a U.S. Marine Corps helicopter crashed while on a relief mission in Nepal, the country's military said Saturday. It said the bodies are not recognizable.

-----------------------------------

The pilot has been identified as 31-year-old Captain Chris Norgren of Wichita, Kansas,
according to his father, Ron Norgren, who spoke to reporters Friday.

"He loved to fly, and he went through rigorous training sessions at Camp Pendleton,"
his father said, referring to the Marine facility in Southern California.

"He was a very compassionate and caring person,"
his mother, Terri Norgren, told CNN's Anderson Cooper. "He wanted to help people. That's the whole reason he went over there. He told me 'Mom, somebody's got to do this. And this is what I'm supposed to be doing.'"

"He was doing things he loved," Ron Norgren added. "He loved to help people and he loved to fly. And he was just incredible."
