Roman de 36 de ani, gasit mort intr-un cimitir din Olanda, la o zi dupa ce a plecat din Romania. Marturiile familiei
(above link in Romanian, from a news station website, with a video of his family talking about the case)
The 36-year-old man from Targoviste left Romania on March 7 and one day later he was found dead, with his body full of blows.

Several years ago, the young man was brought to the attention of the Italian authorities for card cloning(card skimming), and its fingerprints were in the Europol database. That's how the Dutch managed to identify him, but so far they have no clue about the criminals.
When it was discovered, the man no longer had any identity papers or baggage. But the investigators have identified his fingerprints in Europol's database and they have found out who is the victim. Dumitru Sirbu, 36, had left Romania the day before.

Dutch investigators: "We know that Dumitru Sirbu arrived at Schiphol on 7 March at 19.30. See these images. From there, he probably went by bus to Haarlem Center. At 21:15 he was at Albert Heijn, Raaks, where he bought three bottles of beverage. We do not know how he got from there to the cemetery, and we don't know if he was in the company of other people. "
The Dutch authorities have contacted the family of the man killed and his brother, who came from Canada, flew to the Netherlands in an attempt to help the investigators.

Iulian Sirbu, victim's brother: "I offered to take the plane on Wednesday evening, to take all the phones that he had, the laptop, all the means they could take information from. That saves them for at least 3 weeks of communication with the Romanian police.

Reporter: "Do you think that somebody he knew did this?"

Iulian Sirbu: "It is clear whoever took him there and whom he met killed him."

The dead man's parents are destroyed and do not understand what might have happened. After the Italian investigation, their son went to England where he worked as a driver in the last five years. When he left home, in Targoviste, he said he was going to work, also in England, on a cruise ship. He did not tell anyone anything about the Netherlands.

Petru Sirbu, the victim's father: "If he would of told me, but he never told me anything. He said he was doing well, with the work doing well, being pleased with the salary he has there. "

Reporter: "Was it also a vengeance for the deed in Italy?"

Petru Sirbu: "Possible"

Elena Sarbu, victim's mother: "No papers, no clothes. His luck was what he did in Italy otherwise we would never have found him, if he was not in the database he was found. We could not find him, he was gone, well he was gone, let him give us a phone "

Dumitru Sirbu's close friends called him Mike. Many years ago, he was part of a rap band - Suburbia. Music was his passion: the last clip he posted on the internet was on March 4th.

Authorities in Netherlands suspect that the man has been murdered by more individuals, following traces found at the crime scene.

Not speaking dutch, I don't know where to search in MSM more updates about the case. It seems that in romanian MSM there aren't any recent articles although it's more than a year and a half after the discovery. So to me this looks like a cold case along with a pretty long list of anothers strange and unsolved cases that Netherland Police feature on their website.

Hi Georgya, welcome to Websleuths!

There are no updates in Dutch about the case.
It could well be that the brother is right. If DS was lured to the Netherlands under a false pretext by someone he knew, the connection with Haarlem and even with the Netherlands could be a weak one. And short, only a few hours.

Did he really work as a driver in England? I wonder. But that is something for the British police to find out, and these international investigations (Romania, Italy, UK, Netherlands) take time.

Thank you for your welcome, ZaZara!
Per his parent's statements, he was a driver in UK for about 5 years, after he left Italy. What I find strange is that he didn't told anyone that he was going to Netherland. His family thought he was going back to UK to start a new job on a cruise ship.
