Her friend Behula Shah, described her as "a very cheerful person, a very happy person".
They had worked at Tower Insurance for almost two years, forming a bond as they sat next to each other.
On Saturday morning, Mrs Shah picked Mrs Gotingco up from her home and they travelled to work together.
She last saw her when she left at 5pm. "We were supposed to leave together but she opted for overtime."
Mrs Shah said her friend had previously expressed concerns about her safety when walking home from the bus.
"She gets off from the bus on the main road, Birkdale, and then it is about a 5, 6, 7-minute walk ... She said there's not enough light there, especially when it's winter and a bit dark." Mrs Gotingco had also spoken of her concerns to her own daughter Bea, Mrs Shah said.
"When I spoke to her daughter she said she had spoken to her also about that that she feels a little bit unsafe. That road is dark. I think there's not enough lighting."
"We do not know what happened on the grass verge," said Det Snr Sgt Brown. "The property may have just been dumped there."
Police are looking for Ms Gotingco's Omega watch and glasses, and have had several calls from members of the public with information.
There are at least 30 officers working on the investigation, and they have been looking at CCTV footage.
Police say possibilities of what happened to Blessie Gotingco are "limitless".
At a press conference this afternoon Detective Senior Sergeant Stan Brown said the 56-year-old's disappearance was a complete mystery.
There was nothing at the scene where her belongings were found yesterday to indicate a struggle.
He said police were looking for two items Mrs Gotingco would have had with her - a distinctive Omega watch and her reading glasses.
He would not disclose what property had already been found.
CCTV footage has confirmed that Blessie left her workplace at Tower Insurance at 6.53pm on Saturday night. The footage appears to show her leaving with some urgency.
Investigators are also reviewing and continuing to gather CCTV footage from not only the Auckland City area, but also from the Birkdale and Verrans Corners areas.
Blessies family are being supported by friends and Victim Support, and are understandably distraught. Blessies husband is on his way home from overseas and will arrive back in the country tomorrow.

"Leaving with some urgency" does not sound good. Maybe someone followed her home from work. It might be someone she knows.
Hopefully she was rushing to catch the bus and nothing more. Although they are saying she would have caught the 7.20pm or 7.40pm bus perhaps she thought she could get an earlier one.
Police searching for Birkdale mother Blessie Gotingco have tonight cordoned off a cemetery close to her home.
Tonight police cordoned off and were searching the Birkenhead-Glenfield Cemetery in Eskdale Rd, less than 1km from where Mrs Gotingco went missing on Saturday evening.
At least 12 officers were at the scene but police are refusing to comment on any link to the case.
There are reportedly 12 officers at the scene and police have stated it is an area of interest.
The cemetery is located on Eskdale Rd, only a few kilometres from Ms Gotingco's house.
Police have closed off the area for the night and will resume scene examinations in the morning.
