"Friends of Ms Gotingco have described her as lively, chatty and having a great sense of humour.
One friend 3 News spoke to, who asked not to be named, said Ms Gotingco became a grandmother a year ago and doted on her grandson.
"Every month she baked him a cake to celebrate his birthday, even though he was too young to eat it.
"She had photos of him on her desk and talked about him all the time."

"A resident said police had spent the morning in the quiet cul-de-sac looking in rubbish bins.

"It's recycling day today so all the bins were out on the street," said Wendy Darke.

"Police have taken samples from the bins and taken photos of contents."

They had removed an old model grey BMW car from an apartment."

BBM So possibly this may be the car that was heard.

So many water areas and bays near by, yet Blessie was left on land. Hopefully there is a lot of forensic evidence preserved as a result.

Ms Gotingco's husband, Antonio, has been away in the Philippines where her elderly parents live. He struggled to get a flight back to New Zealand, but is expected to arrive today.

"He will be devastated. They are such a tight-knit family, absolutely lovely people," Ms Gotingco's friend said.

Mr Gotingo used to collect his wife from work, and Ms Gotingco's friend said it's unlikely she would have caught the bus had he been in the country.

Very sad case. Blessie sounds like a wonderful woman. Prayers for her family.

<I'm guessing that there's some "smoking gun" evidence since he has been charged with murder so quickly? jmo>

"Gotingco, 56, disappeared after getting off a bus close to her home in the North Shore suburb of Birkdale on Saturday night. Her cellphone and shoes were found about 400 metres from the bus stop along the route to her Salisbury Rd home."

In attempt to convert metres, according to this conversion chart, 400 metres is approx 437 yards, .2 miles, 1312 ft, fwiw.

So, randomly looking at a page for one of the apartments at Monte Cassino Place, that particular unit appears to be individually owned and quite lavish on the inside. Random unit: http://nz.raywhite.com/auckland/birkenhead/1042372/ I wonder if they are all fairly upscale like that? So, if a 27 year old was arrested, I wonder if he was staying with his parents, or if he himself rented or owned the condo?

So many questions: Was this a stranger abduction, or did Blessie know her perp? Does this perp have a record? Are there any other similar unsolved abductions or murders in the area? What was the cod? I guess the answers to these questions will come out in due time. Horrible situation all the way round. jmo
