"He tried to "squeeze them for information" and one officer told him "it will all become clear in the next 24 hours".

*****************************************

"A woman who lives in the same building as the man charged said he was quiet and polite.

"He waved and nodded hello sometimes. He was very polite. We didn't know him though."
She believed the man had lived alone."

um, see facebook (rumor alert / speculation on suspect's identity / treading lightly here as to not violate TOS / we can not discuss him here as he has not been named by LE and fb is considered rumor here but we can paraphrase, if I understand correctly)

He's got a long criminal history from a quick google search

Many articles. :(

Don't want to get ahead of ourselves. Lets sit tight til we get official confirmation.

I'm sure when I get home from work you guys will have all the articles linked up.

:(

:candle:
So Sorry Blessie.
:rose:

Do we have a time for the court appearance?

Remember the outrage, the footage of Van Der Sloot being escorted by LE in Peru? They're going to need some tight security. A lot of emotions here. Especially if this is looking how it appears to be looking.

Again, prayers to Blessie and her family.

The man accused of killing Auckland woman Blessie Gotingco has appeared in court this morning.

He stood in the dock of North Shore District Court, facing away from the public gallery and towards a wall, with his arms folded across his body. He was wearing a blue boiler suit.

Media packed in to the courtroom where the man is appearing, charged with murder, before Judge Philippa Sinclair.

He was arrested just after the 56-year-old mother-of-three's body was found in an area of bush at the Birkenhead-Glenfield cemetery on Eskdale Rd.

For legal reasons the Herald cannot yet name the man or publish details of his past.

I think they've cleaned up the FB page now, judging by the comments asking where some posts went. I missed it. :sigh:

I missed where he was named, but if what I'm hearing is right then this is incredibly tragic.

I am interested in why the name supression. I don't know enough about NZ laws to know but always thought it was for celebrities, minors, and people whose careers or families may be hurt if their crimes were known. Not that I agree, neccessarily, but that was how I thought it worked.

I have to say it does depress me, the vitriol in some of the comments on that facebook page. I understand anger, but it just seems almost like using poor Blessie as a soapbox for political views.

So he appears again on 18th June. We may learn more then. There's not a lot of info in MSM yet, that's for sure. Other than he has priors probably and/or is a known sex offender that they have to keep an eye on.

"No bail application was made and he was remanded in custody.

He will next appear in the High Court on 18 June.

It is understood he was already known to authorities."
